04. Mr. King

Silas went to work trying his best to avoid the excitement he felt in his heart and mind to actually see if what Ruby had said was actually true. He looked at his driver and he was wearing a black suit of course he wears one everyday. They came to a halt at the traffic lights and Silas thought to himself let me just ask him  "why do you always wear a black suit?"  the driver was oblivious to him as they never talk in the car except when he wants the radio turned on or to change the schedule. King looked at him trough the mirror as e moved his head to some silent beat, he didn't know his name so he coughed a couple of times and the driver immediately opened the glove compartment and handed him some tissues when he grabbed one he aske again  "why do you always wear a black suit?"  the driver was clearly caught by surprise so he thought about it for some time and said  "It's my uniform sir."  the driver sounded Russian as he really put in the work when saying the R's in the answer. Silas didn't get it but he still nodded, they arrived at the office. Silas was always the first one here like he was the worker when he was the CEO and Chairman of the board as well as the majority shareholder. This was also the reason why most of his workers didn't know him and about a quarter of them hadn't even seen his face or how he looks like. He went to his office and sat there revising how to ruin and crush the spirits of his workers-at least that's what Maddie Briggs called it. Maddie arrived in time for work today and went straight to her post  "Sir you ready for this?"  she asked entering his office and yes she didn't knock, that was one thing that she found hard to do here amongst all the hard work and everything else  "Briggs how many times have I told you to knock before entering?"  he was startled because he was deep into whatever he was doing he didn't think people had already arrived  "Sir how many times am I going to decline your offer to knock fifty times at your door while you lost in your own world?"  it's not that she disrespected him or anything, it's just that she had put her foot down ever since entering this office that she wasn't scared to talkback a little bit and sometimes stand up for herself. "The financial department is ready for us."  Maddie announced and Silas stood up gathering all that he going to need  "Woah you look sharper than usual."  she made an observation as soon as he came from behind his desk and Silas smirked because Maddie was never the type to give him an ego boost especially on days like things when he was about to scream and rudely have conversations with his staff   "anyway scratch that you look normal."  Maddie took it back because apparently that compliment slipped on it's own. The financial department were very unfortunate to be the first ones crushed today and as soon as Silas entered the room he looked at everyone and indeed everyone was wearing a black suit except the head of the department, he was wearing a brown suit and King smiled to himself then this day begun. Grant went to the King Mansion and he asked for Silas's personal assistant, Ruby was annoyed today because turns Anne-Marie was not in the mood to get out of bed so they didn't do much  "how can I help you?"  Ruby asked as she stood in front of this 5'11 hotness who had the most mesmerizing beautiful brown eyes ever. "Oh okay, are you really feisty?"  he asked doubtful they got the right one, Grant knew that Silas preferred his female workers to have fire and not be pushovers especially ones that worked very closely to him. Ruby was in no mood to entertain whatever the hell this was, she was annoyed and wished to take a nap so she turned around and walked away. Grant grabbed her hand and spun her around then secured her to him by the waist Ruby on the other hand took no time and Kneed him in the nuts. Grant grunted as he clenched his prostate in his hand waiting for the pain to go away, Ruby waited for him to make another mistake after he stopped hurting and he stood up straight all red in face and it showed because he had pale skin  "want more?"  Ruby flinched at him and he immediately went to protect his groin area then she smiled.  "so who are you and why are here?"  Ruby asked and Grant looked at her over, she was 4'8 and looked really sweet especially with her dimple he noticed when she smiled and her caramel skin really flourished in this light.  "I'm here for Silas's lunch."  Grant answered and Ruby looked at this good looking man in his fancy red suit and thought he couldn't be an errand boy. Then it clicked in her mind this was thee great Grant Thatcher, Silas's best friend and his first and probably the last business partner, he looked better that he did when he appeared in magazines and posters. "first of all Mr. King doesn't eat lunch at home and second since when did an errand boy dress this bold."  okay the second statement was just rude and Ruby felt it in her guts but it was too late it had already left the nest. Grant sighed  "he has back to back meetings when do you think he will have lunch?"  he asked her and Ruby just shrugged  "that should be his actual personal assistant's worry." she rolled her eyes  "well his actual PA ordered a home made lunch so chop chop."  Ruby didn't lose this one she just wanted him out of the house  "well you have to wait for it."  she walked to the kitchen   "and you have ten minutes."  he wore a serious commanding face. Ruby put together some basket and handed it to the good looking man, she was a sucker for a well dressed, good looking man who had guts. He blew her a kiss  "thank you sweetness."  and he left. Grand entered the meeting hall that was on the twentieth floor and found Silas asking the head of the production department some really messed up questions that they both knew he wouldn't have the answer to.  "Okay every one you may leave!"  Grant announced as he was about to take a seat, everyone looked at him, he relaxed into his seat and put his feet on the table  "come on now, leave..."  they didn't know what to do so they were busy looking at Silas and Grant and Maddie nodded that they should leave. Every one literally grabbed what they could and ran out there  "I never and I mean never come to your work of place and do as I please."  Silas looked at him straight  "well that's because you have no interest in what I do."  Grant smiled as he put the basket on the table  "come on let' grab some lunch"  he patted the basket and stood up  "you're invited too Briggs."  and he walked out waiting for Silas to follow him which he did. They went to his office and Silas looked slightly annoyed but okay  "Thatcher where did you get such an organized basket?"  Silas seemed to be enjoying the food  "At you house."  he casually said it when passing Maddie the juice so she can pour it. Maddie poured for herself and Grant then put it down  "where is my glass?"  Silas asked and Maddie shrugged  "you don't deserve it, you were a prick today."  she risked everything to say that to him and Silas quietly tried to grab the juice but Maddie moved do he could reach it  "there will absolutely be no juice for you."  she tried to hide her enjoyment of messing with him. Silas gave her a sharp look and she continued to focus on her food, Silas tried to get Grant to hand him the juice  but he was in agreement with Briggs after all. Later that day Silas went home exhausted and tired but he was in a somewhat better mood than his usual days and he didn't know why. With this mood of his he decided while he waited for dinner he should go and greet his dear Grandma, he got there and she was already asleep, he gave her a goodnight kiss on the forehead and went to shower. His room was fresh and organized guess Ruby did know how to do a good job, he went downstairs for dinner and as soon as Ruby came in the dining room holding his food followed by some staff because well she couldn't carry the entire dish by herself Silas finally knew why he was feeling a little happy today. It was her, it was Ms. Ruby Scotts she looked kind of cute tonight. He wondered if she did something different while he was gone because this morning he definitely didn't leave her looking like that. Nope he wasn't in love with her and no he wasn't crushing on her but she looked way better when she is right and today she was right, his workers wore black basic suits just to show unity, even the ladies in each department made sure they wore black basic suits that suited them but also made them simple instead of flashy and not to talk about their make-up, it was definitely just simply done instead of what they usually just put on which is heavy and changes them completely. She was totally right all along, guess he would like to keep her around.
