CHAPTER 70 It is only 4:30 in the afternoon, and it’s already dark. Lary looks at her note again, checking the address against the house numbers. She and Timex are strolling up a side street north of Pape and the Danforth, looking for 27 Marlon Avenue. The air hangs heavy with damp snow about to fall. And then she spots it. A short set of stairs leads up to a small front porch with old-fashioned leaded windows covered in lacy curtains. She rings the bell. No reply. She rings again. Finally, a face peeks from behind the lace. Zdenka Zidarevich. No, it isn’t Zdenka, but someone who looks an awful lot like her. It turns out to be Zdenka’s sister, Denitza.
