The Forest Beyond
The mist thickened as Aryan followed the woman into the forest. The trees loomed high above, their twisted branches casting eerie shadows on the ground. Aryan kept a steady pace, careful not to lose sight of her.
“Who are you?” he called softly, but there was no reply. The woman moved as though she floated above the ground, her steps silent, her figure graceful yet distant. Aryan’s instincts warned him to turn back, but something stronger urged him forward.
Finally, the woman stopped in a small clearing bathed in silver moonlight. Aryan emerged from the shadows, his breath coming in quiet puffs. The woman stood with her back to him, her long black hair cascading like silk down her shoulders.
“Why do you follow me?” she spoke, her voice low but melodic, carrying an inexplicable sadness.
Aryan hesitated. “I… I’ve seen you before. In my dreams.”
At this, the woman turned. Aryan’s heart clenched. Her face was as beautiful as it was sorrowful—deep, dark eyes filled with unspoken pain, and lips that seemed forever on the edge of a sigh.
“Your dreams have brought you to a place you do not understand,” she said. “You should not have come.”
Aryan took a step closer. “Who are you? What is this place?”
The woman shook her head. “Names do not matter here. This village is not for you, wanderer. Leave while you can.”
Aryan frowned. “I can’t. I need to know why I’ve been seeing you.”
The woman’s gaze softened briefly, but she turned away. “There are things that are better left unseen. Go back to your world, Aryan.”
Aryan froze. “How do you know my name?”
She did not answer. Instead, the mist swirled around her, and in the blink of an eye, she was gone. Aryan spun in place, searching for her, but the clearing was empty. The night had grown colder, and an uneasy silence blanketed the forest.
