Jesus and the Monster “Tell me about Jesus and the Monster.” The upper room fell silent as if they heard a scream. Until then the banter flew with unrestrained humor. The two women glanced at one another with “boys will be boys” amusement, rolling their eyes and shaking their heads. The “boys” exchanged casual insults, some of which elicited laughter while others hit closer to home. Through it all Peter stood off in a corner as if holding court, smiling mostly but interjecting a few words when things got a little dicey. It was the night before Pentecost – the Pentecost that changed it all - and the place they called simply the Upper Room where they shared their last meal together. “Brother John wouldn’t even let the man breathe – had to lean against him the whole time,” Philip said.
