I was just calculating my distance from the aliens when I heard a siren in the distance, the kind that signaled fires to the surrounding communities. It was in the midst of its second crescendo when it stopped suddenly, like something had muffled it – or disintegrated it. What!? Two miles away!? Maybe!? My attacker must have thought he could still be charged with assault, or murder if I was dead, because he went to great pains to hide me. He must have used his truck or my bike to carry me about a half mile north down the tow path to dispose of the body.
