He arrived at the observatory in the light of a lazy moon. The narrow crescent seemed to lounge in the eastern sky under the cover of a burnt orange blanket. Earth's nearest companion threw it off as the clouds hurried away on a mile-high mid-summer wind.
The source and nature of the invitation confused him. Dr. Sydney Barkwit, who requested his presence, was an astronomer, he a botanist.
