Lily cut her elbow on the glass wall when she threw the flower pot. It consequently went off course and ended up falling towards the left exit.
Brenda stood up and was about to leave.
As she looked up, she saw a little boy running out of the doorway while something was falling from the sky.
Realizing the boy was about to be hit, she threw him down without a second thought and shielded him with her body.
Just in a split second...
The flower pot hit the ground with a terrific thud and smashed into pieces.
Many minutes went by before she, still badly shaken, hurriedly held up the little fellow.
"Are you hurt, kid?"
He was a very cute little boy, just about four or five years old. He was wearing a small black suit like that of an adult. His features were very delicate and under his handsome face there was a hint of pride.
Looking at that boy, Brenda thought of her own child...
When she had first set foot in Paris, she was pregnant and had a very hard time living by herself. She gave birth without a single relative around her. She had almost died from heavy bleeding on the operating table and remained in a coma for several days.
When she woke up again, the doctor told her that her baby had been stillborn. She didn't even get to see him.
"If that baby had survived back then he should be this big now," Brenda mused.
She was in a trance.
Perhaps it was precisely because of that feeling of regret and guilt in her heart that she had completely ignored her own safety to save that little boy...
The little fellow slowly got on his feet and tilted his head to peer at Brenda. He glanced at the flower pot on the ground and raised his head to look upstairs.
He seemed to be searching for the person who caused the accident, but there was no one so he let it go.
He quickly squatted down to help Brenda up. His childish voice was deep with concern. "Beautiful lady, are you all right?"
"Such a sensible little warm guy!" Brenda noted.
Brenda felt a burning pain in her elbow. She raised her arm to take a look. The sleeve of her blouse was torn. She had a large scratch, her blood and the cloth were glued together.
"I'm fine. It's a little scratch, it's nothing. What's your name, kid? Why are you playing alone here? Do your parents work here?"
"My name's Bobby... You're hurt, Miss. Let me take you to the hospital, okay?"
"There's no need. I'm a grown-up. I'm not afraid of pain. It's ok, just a little wound..."
Brenda instantly fell in love with this lovely little guy.
Bobby Warner understood that he could not persuade Brenda. He rolled his eyes and asked" Will you take me home, Miss?"
"Better call your parents first to assure them you're fine. If they say it's okay, I'll take you home."
"Boo hoo... I don't have a mother! And Dad has been seduced by a little witch. He never cares about me..."
Bobby covered his face with his little hands and started sobbing loudly. He secretly observed Brenda through his fingers.
A rough picture of the boy's family situation arose in Brenda's mind . It seemed that he belonged to a family with an irresponsible single father. Children of such families are most likely not well loved or cared for. Poor baby! Brenda was almost moved to tears by the boy's heart-wrenching weeping.
"Good Bobby, don't cry. I'll take you home, okay?"
" Wow, awesome! You're the best! I don't live far from here... let's go then!"
The little fellow very proudly pulled out an iPhone from his pocket. A GPS was installed on it.
Brenda picked up the mobile phone and examined it. Most of its functions were locked. The parental controls must have been activated.
Moreover, there was only one name in the contact list of the phone, 'Great Devil'.
"Okay, let's get in the car!"
When Brenda had returned from abroad, she had bought a cheap second-hand cheap car to get around. It was just right for two persons.
Meanwhile, Miss Wilson, the secretary was rushing into her CEO's office. "Boss, the young master is missing!"
