Chapter 6: The diner

I can feel her looking at me, those beautiful green eyes filled with questions and fear. I had to ignore her and pretend that she didn't affect me. Tom is relentlessly nudging me to hold her, our mate. He is giving me the silent treatment, but I don't trust my self-control. Besides, I was angry at myself. How could I be so stupid? She did not do anything wrong, and now, thanks to me, she has a black eye. And still, I didn't apologize. Instead, I ordered my men to carry her to my SUV when she refused my offer. I can see her shaking. She must have been terrified but intelligent because she didn't give us her home address. Instead, we dropped her outside a diner downtown with an outdated painted and shabby entrance. I watched her run into the arms of an older man. I jumped out of the car and marched into the diner, boiling with jealousy. The man saw me entering and pushed her behind him, growling. I stopped. He is a werewolf, a rogue, maybe. Werewolves that belong to a pack rarely mix with the human population, let alone own a diner.

' Alpha Tancred' he quickly relaxed and addressed me.

'How may I help you?'

I saw her poke her head out from behind him, confused.

' Just checking to see if she's alright.'

' Leila?'

'Yes'

' I am fine. Thanks for the ride; it is very kind of you' came her weak voice. I wanted to shake her, kind? I was a monster who had an innocent girl arrested.

' I am Nielsen, by the way. Thank you for keeping Leila safe; she is like a daughter to me.'

I did not know how to respond for the first time in my life. I was always in control of all the situations that I was in, but not this one. I looked at the pair of them. He must have noticed how uncomfortable I was because he asked me if I would like to sit down and have something to drink.

Tom started whimpering again.

I cannot be in her presence without caressing her. I feel an erection coming on, she has an enormous effect on me. I had to get out of here before I had a full blown erection, so without a word, I turned around and left, leaving them staring at my back in shock.
