Chapter 21Margaret Amery, Secretary for Internal Affairs, stood in the doorway of the Oval Office.
‘Come in, Margaret. Have a seat.’
Margaret sat across the desk from her Commander-in-Chief. ‘We have an emergency, Mr President. A kidnapping.’
Adam c****d his head in puzzlement. Not something to bother the President with.
Margaret read his mind. ‘I thought you would want to know. It’s Arthur Liepzig, the head of GroCo, the GM Foods company in Montana.’
Adam had heard about the scandal.
‘Who’s responsible?’ he asked.
‘That’s the thing. The local town.’
‘The what?’
‘His local town. The inhabitants of Whiskey Creek have taken him hostage. The mayor and the sheriff are two of the kidnappers.’
