Chapter 22Luke and Charlie were having one of their regular Barrel Bar get-togethers with GL, Stuart Page, and the gang. The picture of them all standing alongside President Sukova had appeared in the Washington Post, under the headline ‘Budding Golf Star Lunches at the White House’. Below was a half-column piece telling how the President had been getting tips on his golf game from the rising star Luke Furrowes.
Chuck Pavel was complaining to Luke that the story sat badly alongside a neighbouring headline about storm clouds gathering over Adam Sukova’s presidency. He reckoned that someone in Maria Stinson’s press office would be getting stick for releasing it. ‘Nobody wants to hear about our leader taking golf lessons when he should be out there sorting all the disasters in the country.’
