Chapter 36The gang was going through a bit of a lean spell. Jeff was too busy to show up these days, and Luke and Fuzzy were away in California on a tough schedule of tournaments in the run-up to the Augusta Masters. Tim Nielsen was at home for the week, and Alice was working late. So Charlie gave Chuck a call and they decided to get together that evening until any of the others appeared.
It was obvious to Chuck that Charlie was lonely without her man, and he led her onto a different subject.
‘What’s up with His Lordship, Charlie?’
‘GL? You’ve noticed too?’
‘I have. Ever since he came back from the UK, he seems to be off colour – not himself at all. I wonder if he’s got problems at L&M?’
‘I’ve not heard anything. In fact he told Luke this was going to be their best year ever.’
