CHAPTER 13:THE PAST(13)

420 Words
Despite their efforts to work through their issues, Alex and Meg eventually reached a breaking point. They have been arguing more frequently, and the tension between them had become palpable, Alex doesn’t listen to anything she says and tries shunning her and sometimes will gaslight her into thinking she was the one that was wrong and she wasn’t happy about it. All this were red flags but Meg chose to overlook it, because she was dating with this marriage mentality that no matter who is wrong one has to calm and apologize and no one was perfect so she also accepted all of his flaws no matter what it was. “What went wrong, what changed” she thought feeling very uneasy. One day, after a particularly heated argument, Alex said something that caught Meg off guard. ‎"I think we should take a break," he said, his voice laced with frustration. "I don't know if this is working anymore." ‎She felt like she been punched in the gut. "What do you mean?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. ‎"I mean, I think we want different things," Alex said. "And I don't know if we're compatible anymore." ‎Meg felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. "You're breaking up with me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. ‎Alex nodded. "I think it's for the best," he said. ‎She felt like the world was crashing down around her. They had been together for so long, and she had never imagined a future without Alex. She didn't know how to process this new reality. ‎The days that followed were a blur. She went through the motions, trying to navigate her newfound heartbreak. She felt lost and alone, wondering what she had done wrong and how she could have saved their relationship. ‎As Meg reflected on their time together, she realized that they have been growing apart. they changed as individuals, and their relationship had become stagnant, Alex also changed she didn't know when maybe it was when he started following his friends around he no longer had time for her like he did before. She knew that breakups were never easy, but she tried holding on. ‎Meg and Alex went their separate ways, each of them trying to figure out what they wanted from life and from themselves. It was a difficult and painful process especially for Meg but it was also an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. ‎
