It had been a six Months since they started talking, Meg had been looking forward to Alex calls every day which he didn't fail. They would have deep conversations, and laugh together until their sides hurt. She had never felt this way about anyone before, and she couldn't help but wonder if Alex felt the same way.
On the sixth day of February her phone rang at around 12 am.
"who would be calling me by this time" she thought because she hated being disturbed in her sleep
"Hey, it's me” he said.
”Alex” Meg called recognizing his voice immediately
"I'm so sorry for disturbing you, I wanted to ask if you'll be my Valentine" he asked through the phone.
"Alex, today is sixth of February and valentines is fourteenth” she laughed in disbelief.
"I want to ask you first" he said innocently
"we are not even seeing each other so how do you expect me to answer that question" Meg said
" it's a virtual something" He whispered but she heard it and smiled.
"okay no problem" she replied feeling a little shy.
"There's always a first time for everything, but this first time isn't bad after all" she thought and then went back to sleep.
The sun pierced through her window and she woke up with a smile on her face, checking her time it was 8 am
"Everyone has gone out" she murmured
Her 4 siblings were in school, her mum a teacher while her dad was a Government worker so it's understandable that they were not at home and then she went ahead doing her daily routine while she was waiting for Alex calls.
She waited for the calls but none came so she had to go online and saw his message
"Hello pretty, sorry for not calling I slept off" he said apologizing.
"its fine" she said with slight relief
"so how is your day going today" he asked with a sweet tone.
"Good by the way I ate Rice and egg sauce" Meg replied.
"Oh, you know how to cook" he asked with surprise in his voice.
"Yeah I do" she answered feeling shy
"Wow” he exclaimed
“I never knew you were a wife material" He said flirting
"Of course I am" she replied proudly
They chatted for a long time and when she checked the time it was already 2 pm.
" the time ran so fast" she murmured
" so what are you doing now" he asked
"Nothing in particular, just waiting for my siblings and my mum to come back from school," she replied.
"Oh okay, chat you later let me go and prepare for choir practice” he replied.
" Oh okay", Meg answered casually, then it clicked.
“Wait, you said choir practice” she asked in disbelief.
“Yeah, I am a Catholic chorister”, he replied.
“Really” she asked with a hint of surprise. “I’m Catholic too”, Meg said.
“It seems we are really meant for each other” he said, flirting.
“Lol, let me not keep you so you won’t go late because of me”, Meg said as she logged out of f*******:.
Three days later he called to her surprise because he had been so busy with church and his mother's business. Though he came from a middle-class family, it was understandable.
"I wanted to talk to you about us," he said, his voice serious but gentle. "I really enjoy spending time with you, and I feel like we have a deep connection. I was wondering if you'd like to be my girlfriend."
Meg's heart skipped a beat as his voice resounded into her ear. She could feel the sincerity and fear there, and she knew exactly how he felt, but was still skeptical about her feelings.
"Please let me think about it," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"No problem, I'll wait for you how long you need," he asked her with slight disappointment in his voice.
"Three days" she answered.
She felt a sense of joy and relief wash over her, knowing that she had found someone who truly cared about her and understood her. On the 14th day of the month, he chatted with her again.
"Hi pretty", Alex said, flirting with her.
"Hello handsome" Meg flirted back
"so....... "It's been 3 days already and happy Valentine's Day baby, "he reminded her.
""Oh okay,"" she replied with the realization that Meg was the type of person to forget things easily.
"No problem, I'll be your girlfriend", she replied, being a little shy.
“Really,” he said, out of surprise.
“Yeah” Meg answered. “So today is Valentine's. "What do you have for me?” Meg asked jokingly. And he sent a picture and when she opened the picture, she felt emotional. It was a picture of a little boy holding a rose flower.
“Awwwww, thank you” Meg replied.
“I don’t have anything, but please manage this one," he said in a soft way which made her laugh. This was how their relationship started and Meg with a fluttering heart, was looking forward to how their relationship would go in the future.
