'ELLA '

After the office doors closed behind me I could swear that I heard a curse and a loud bang. I didn’t bother as he told me to leave. His secretary send me a very wicked look but I was already on my way to the lift, to my freedom. That was the strangest meeting in my whole life which wasn’t longer than half an hour and I am still wondering how did I get my new job. I know that is not my dream job but like they say ‘if you in you in’. After I left the building I called Ugo.

Phone conversation

-‘hi it’s me’- I said

-‘ Hello, how was it?’- he asked straight

-‘ Guess who is a new assistant of Mr Nicholson’- I said with a smile

-‘ no way!’- he shouted and I need to take the phone off my ear

-‘ Ugo, I almost lost hearing in my ear’- I said

-‘ I am sorry but I am so excited. How is he in person?’- Ugo said to me

-‘ he is a very strange and rude man. What I can say he is an asshole’- I said still remembering his last words before I left his office

-‘ Ugo let's celebrate’- I said

-‘ Just tell me when and where?-‘ he quickly asked

-‘ my house, today, let’s say 7 pm’- I said.

-‘ do you want Chinese again?’- he asked

-‘ no this time I am cooking, just bring some prosecco’- I told him. We said our goodbyes and I went straight to the grocery shop.

I decided that I will make some pasta with chicken and broccoli in cream sauce. As for dessert, I make small cheesecakes with some orange jelly. Just when I was ready to put all items into the sauce my doorbell rang and Ugo shouted to let him in. I opened the door and run to the kitchen as I left my dish still cooking. After I settle plates and Ugo sorted wine we get a toast

-‘ for us and our dream jobs’- Ugo said and we clink our glasses.

-‘ so now tell me how was it?’- he asked just when we start eating

-‘ well, it was a very strange meeting- I started

-‘ like he has not to bother about what I already achieved or what I can bring to his company, but at the same time he was focused on me’- I said still remembering his black eyes which I believe could dig holes in mine ones. And his voice was so warm but at the same time demanded. I just zone out as I heard Ugo’

- Ella, Ella! Are you still with me?’- he asked and touched my hand

-‘ Yeah, sorry I must be zoned out’- I said with an apologetic smile. After our dinner, Ugo took out from his pocket a weed.

-‘ do you want some?’- he asked

-‘ no I am fine’- I said watching him when he make a cigarette. I haven’t smoked anything, not done any super dangerous or exciting things and if you think that my life was boring you're probably right. For the last 2 years, I only focused on my studies and have not had too much time for entertainment.

-‘ Are you sure it’s from my small plantation’- Ugo said and laughed.

-‘ yes I am sure’- I reply and watched him when he smokes and the little puff of smoke left his mouth. Ugo against everyone in his family decided to study ‘Cannabis science and operations’. And before you think ’wait what?’ yes that’s what Ugo decided to study. Ugo’s family come from Nigeria and their plan was to move from France to the USA via Canada but Ugo ruined their plans. To be his naughty self he decided to be born premature so his parents need to stay longer in Europe, I mean much longer like about 20 years. This is how Ugo become a French citizen. Ugo smiled and closed his eyes. After he told me about his feelings for Mia I started seeing him in a different light. I always saw him as my older brother. Like the one who took me under his wings and helped me with everything started from my apartment and finished with today's celebrations. I think I will miss him. His charming smile and warm voice. Even when I had a bad mood he was the only one who could make me smile. I think that is how our life works. People in our own life appear for some reasons and they sometimes leave us for their own sake. I decided that this time I will help him as my ‘thank you’ for all his effort in helping me for the last almost 2 years. After a few hours of talking and drinking, we decided to call off the night and Ugo went to his home. He only stay like few streets away from my apartment so he did not even take a taxi. As I was not sleepy at all and that was like only midnight I decided to start my helping plan. I make a face time call to Mia

‘-hi Mia how are you? I am sorry that I missed your leave’- I said to Mia just when her face appear on my screen

-‘ Hi Ella, How are you? Don’t be silly Ella I know that you went to see your sister’- she reply with a smile

-‘ is that was a good reunion?’- she asked

-‘ that was great. My sister brought her new boyfriend and he was very helpful and believe it or not but I got a job in Nichol Enterprises’- I told her with a little spark of happiness in my eyes

-‘ that’s great Ella! When do you start?’ she asked again

-‘ on Monday. I can’t believe it too’- I told her

-‘ did you tell your family yet?’- she asked again. Oh my God I totally forgot to let them know

-‘ not yet but we already celebrated with Ugo’- I said with a smile

-‘ oh how is he?’ – she asked and her cheeks redness almost straight after

-‘ he is in the bad shape’- I said

-‘ what’s happened?’- Mia asked and I could hear care in her voice

-‘ you see he is very sad recently as it looks like he is suffering from a heart break’- I said

-‘ oh’- she said with some disappointment

-‘ I know and you know what the best part is that the person which as he said broke his heart doesn’t know about that because this i***t never said a thing to her’- I said and watched her reaction. I could swear that I can see some relief but at the same time shock.

-‘ oh his boyfriend gone?’- she asked

-‘ oh no the girl which he love is gone’- I said laughing

-‘ girl? I was thinkin’- Mia started

-‘ I know I was thinking the same but when I come back from home he told me who he loved’- I said with a serious tone

-‘ Mia I decided to call you as I need to know something and please think before you answer’- she looked at me with curiosity

-‘ ok ask’- she said

-‘ do you got any feelings for Ugo?’- I asked still looking at her. She lowered her eyes

-‘ is it that obvious?’- she asked and looked into my eyes

-‘ yes now but not before’- I honestly answered

-‘ do you think that he knows?’- she asked with some fear

-‘ Ugo, no way he is a man and if he will be trip over you then he may notice but it's not guaranteed that he could’- I said with a warm smile

-‘ did anyone else notice?’- she asked again

-‘ hmm I really don’t think so.’- I told her

-‘ oh that’s good as I probably will die if someone especially him noticed’- she replied with relief. Oh my God looks like they are both love idiots. I mentally punched my face and shook my head

-‘ Mia what do you want to do about that? Are you ok with it? You don't want to even want to give you both a chance?’- I asked in disbelieve. Who in their mind wants to be miserable and unhappy

-‘ what I can do, it’s too late’- she cried

-‘ it’s never too late’. - I said

-‘ it is next month will be my engagement party’- she said and bursts into tears.

-‘ engagement party? Oh sorry I didn’t know that you got a boyfiend’- I started but at the same time she said

-‘ because I don’t’- she whispered. I wanted to say something but her room doors busted and Asian looking older man comes in

-‘ Mia what’s wrong with you? I am shouting for you for a while now

‘- I am sorry dad I lost time counting as I am in the middle of a conversation with my friend from University’- just when she finished speaking that man come close to the screen.

-‘ good morning Sir’- I said with I believe my warmest and most innocent smile. He just only shook his head and left the room. At the same minute, I lost connection with Mia.

I must call her again and ask what is the story with that fiance of hers but now I need to have a plan for how to arrange a meeting for this couple of love idiots.
