Chapter 2
The crew standing on deck watching their Captain with this young man at his feet. Finn wad blood running down his face from a cut above his eye. Wiping the blood out of his eye once more he looked up and asked the Captain why he was treated like this and what was going on. The Captain said, “You are Prince Finn from Kastadina. You think I am taking you home. You have been deceived my little prince. The brother of Kitch told the Chief who you were and the Chief sold you to me for a lot of coin. I can now do just what I want with you. For now you will work for me as my chamber maid. You will tend to all my needs.” HA HA HA he laughed with great pleasure on his face.
Captain Thomas: “Franky”
Franky: “Yes Captain”
Captain Thomas: “Take my slave down to my quarters and show him his daily duties. The rest I will teach him myself”
The Captain had a big smirk on his face and then Finn knew he was in serious trouble. Finn did not dispute any of what the Captain told him because he knew if he did that more beatings or worse would befall him. Down in the Captains Chambers after Franky left, Finn tried to make sense of all. How could Logan betray him like this? What was the reason he would not know. So many questions he had and what the future held for him.
Logan, Kitch's brother did not like Finn coming from no where, taking all the attention in the house, taking all Kitch's attention away from him. Logan and Kitch use to do everything together, not just being brothers but best friends. Even Pauly's attentions were directed to Finn. Logan hated Finn for turning his world up side down, he felt that Finn took everything from him. When Pauly pulled the family together and told them to keep their mouths shut, Logan saw it as the best way to get revenge, telling the Chief that Finn was not what he pretended to be and that he was a Prince. The Chief then and there decided to send word to Captain Thomas and an arrangement was made.
Finn was cleaning out the Captains bucket staring out to see in a dazed, hurt and broken down. Unfortunately the Captain had a taste for young men and used Finn every other night. Finn felt like just letting go and fall over the rail of the boat into the ocean. He could not even think, just doing what he must in a Zombie like state. Still looking out at the ocean Finn felt a little tingle in his guts. Land was on the horizon. He instantly started of how to get away. He thought of his previous escape from the Vikings but that would not work this time. Franky came by and slapped him on the back of the head, “Get back to work you Gimp” Finn spun around and proceeded back to the Captain's quarters but took a turn to the Captain's office. Maybe there he could learn as to where they were heading, the name of the island he saw was. Flipping through the papers as quick as he could he checked the map and there were a path mapped out on it. His fingers followed the line from Casta and stopped on the next marking. Prius, as he read the name he followed the rest of the line to where he read Sunninghill. But that was months away, I can't take months of torture he thought. He heard something out side the door and quickly got out of there back to the Captain's cabin. What am I going to do, he thought!
Nearing the docks of Prius the Captain gave orders to fetch Finn so that he could keep him close. Finn was tied with rope around his waist to the Captain. Sitting at the Captains feet or standing beside him, there was no way to escape now. Hope seemed to be lost. Most of the deck workers have gone to the market to replenish the boats stock for the next voyage to Hakuna bay where there are slaves to be traded for what ever riches Captain Thomas had to trade. After that the slaves will be taken to Madring Capital to be sold to the King. Madring Capital was two stops away from Sunninghill that is months away.
Late That night still bound to the Captain who was stone drunk, Finn wiggled himself loose as quietly as he could, he was good at getting out of ropes or anything tying him down. He put something down to replace him and tied the rope to it. He knew he would not be able to get out the door, there was always a guard at the end of the corridor. He looked at the window and slowly opened it and climbed up, it was a long way down to the water and would make a loud splash and alerted, he could not jump. Looking to his right their was a thick rope coming down from the deck to the pillar on the dock but he would had to jump. Finn thought it's now or never and positioned himself as close as he could and made the jump. Almost missing the rope he swung his legs up and shimmied his way down to the pillar. As he reached the pillar two deck hands looked over the side of the boat as to what was jingling the iron circle where the rope was tied to. Finn just made it and stood very still behind the pillar. The darkness of the night as it was cloudy and the bad lighting of the fire lit torches were just good enough to keep him hidden from the two deck hands sight. There was a few drunken sailors on the dock but Finn made his way around all the wooden crates, sailors and anything else on the dock to a quiet side street just off the side from the dock. “What am I going to do now?” he mumbled to himself. He knew he had to put enough distance between himself and the boat as he could before anybody knew he was gone. He got up and started just running and hiding if he saw anybody, a while later he found himself out of the town and in woodlands outside of town. There he made his way to and old big oak tree, climbed up and decided he would rest there and not even long after getting up the tree he fell asleep. His mind mauled over all the bad things he had to endure through the Captain's tortured nights, dreaming of seeing his family again. His eyes flicked open from dreaming and he realised that he would not be able to face his Father after what he had done with Captain Thomas. The humiliation would be to much. He fell asleep again sitting like a monkey in a tree.
Morning came and he heard some rustling coming through the woods and singing. His face frowning as to who or what it was. The voice was of an angel he thought, I am dead and the angels are coming to fetch me. Concentrating hard and trying to look through the leaves of the tree he started seeing a young woman with the longest red curling hair he has ever put sight on, a dark green dress with skin so light. He started leaning forward as his eyes looked at the beauty that was before him. Being week and very hungry he lost his grip and fell out the tree. Bump! He landed on the ground. He curled in pain because he fell on his left arm. A thin fingered hand came across his face and a voice so sweet filled the air. “Are you all right?” Finn flew up and ran a few steps away. “ Hey stop!” Finn heard the girls voice yelling. He stopped and turned towards her. “I wont do you any harm” she exclaimed. Making her way over to him cautiously with her one hand out in front of her. “ I only want to make sure that you are OK” she said. Finn standing side ways clenching his arm looked up and then to his left to where he was running. Letting down his shoulders with a sigh he said, “ I just bruised my arm with the fall madam.” “Madam, oh I am no madam, my name is Lucy. What is your name and what were you doing in the tree? Where do you come from?” she asked. Finn with a slight grin on his face, head tilted down could not help himself as she was so beautiful and the grin went into a skew smile. “ Well Lucy I need to get away from the town and make my way to Sunninghill.” “ Gosh that is a far away land you are talking about,” she said. “How about for now you come with me and get cleaned up and fed. My fathers house is not far from here and by what I can tell you cant stay here” Finn nodded and Lucy proceeded past him, he turned and looked at her and felt a warmth in his chest he has never felt before. There was a full feeling of trust and he felt that he had known her all his life. Shaking his head he turned and started following her, making sure to not walk to close and stay behind her. Every now and then just glanced back to make sure he was still there giving him a warming smile, all he could do is look down when she did that and give his little grin. He instantly forgot about all that has happened to him the passed three and a half years. He was totally lost in her presence.
The tree's started to open out to a clearing where there stood a small little cottage. Beautiful flowers on both sides of the walkway leading to the door, almost like a fairy tail. To the side of the house there was small stalls with goats in, a few chickens running around and a stall with one horse in and a buggy to the side. Finn was standing still and taking in everything he was seeing but what he did not know is that there was a creature stalking him and coming closer by the second, in one fowl swoop something big pushed him to the ground and was eating his face or so it felt. Lucy was laughing so hard that her Father heard the commotion and came outside. Now he was also laughing and Finn felt he was going to die. “Jumper”, Lucy shouted out. Finn sat up right and saw the biggest dog he has ever laid eyes on. “This is Jumper” said Lucy. “He likes you Finn” Finn sat and wiped all the drool of his face and got up. “That’s not a dog, its a beast” Finn liked animals but this dog was huge and had very long hair, huge paws and a head the size of a lion, he was actually afraid of him. Lucy said, “Don’t worry he is like a big puppy, he likes sneaking up on people and then wants to play”
Lucy's Father, Ben then stepped in and asked Lucy who this young man was and what he was doing here. Father this is Finn, he is travelling and needs some food and shelter for the night and a bath, she grinned. “Good day Sir” Finn said and put his hand out to greet Ben. “Lets go in, there is some morning porridge left that you can eat” As they sat at the table Finn asked why Ben was so trusting of a stranger he daughter has brought home. “Finn my daughter has a good nature and I trust her judgement about people”. “Now tell me about your travels”, Ben said. Finn was so at ease and he let loose about everything and the final thing he said is that Ben and Lucy were the second people that he has trusted and that he was in awe to still find good people that are willing to help people that they don’t know. “Well my boy you are in good hands and you are welcome to stay as long as you need, all I ask is help with any work around the house that needs doing. Finn nodded and said, “ I appreciate it Sir”. Ben had no problem that Finn was a Prince, at this moment he was just a human being in need of help.
Finn stayed a few days and he was so wrapped up in Lucie's charm that it took him a while to get his head together. He could not ask Lucy to run with him. She had a home and her Father to consider, she can't pick up everything and just go on an almost impossible journey. He has fallen for her and fallen hard for this perfect girl. Sitting on a log just a bit away from the house so that he can see the house he was wrapping his mind around all. Lucy came round the house and he saw the perfect time to talk to her. “Lucy! Can I speak to you for a bit?” She came and sat next to him looking at him with that glitter in her eyes that just made his knees weak and made it so much harder to say what he was about to say.
“You are so beautiful and kind with a heart of gold and to be honest I have fallen for you.” Finn took the bull by the head and just said what he needed to say. “Lucy I have a hard journey ahead and I have to return to my kingdom. I do not know how long my journey will be or what opsticles will befall me. Lucy I have fallen, literately fallen for you since the first time I saw you.” Finn chuckled at the idea that he had fallen out of the tree when first he saw Lucy and Lucy was looking straight into his eyes and was also chuckling. “Finn please don't let me stand in your way. I like you a lot but I understand that you need to go back home and that you can not stay here.” Finn interrupted her and said, “Lucy, I love you and I will return to you no matter how long it would take. I have never felt so strong about anything and you light up my life. You give me strength to put all the hell I've been through behind me and see a bright future. I will go home and come back for you and if your Father allows it, him too. I want you to be a part of my future.” Lucy shifted closer to Finn and whispered in his ear that she felt the same, that she feels like she has known him all her life. For two people to feel this way since the first sight was one in a million. To find this rare love between two people. Finn looked up and kissed her on the cheek. “I have to speak to your Father about my thoughts and a plan to go back home.”
Ben approved of Finn and his daughter and did all to aid Finn on the detail’s of the journey ahead. But one thing Finn did not expect was that Ben wanted to accompany Finn on the journey so that Finn would not be alone or be harmed any further. “Sir I can not allow you to leave your daughter and your house”, Finn exclaimed. “Then I will send someone to go with you all the way, I know someone that owes me and he is a wild man and will be able to protect you”, Ben said. “His name is Lucien, he was a drifter who I helped get back on his feet. He trades in animal pelts so he knows how to handle the worst of the worst.” Finn nodded and was grateful that he was not going to be alone on this next part to get back home.
