Nine Things were still a little awkward when we pulled into the parking lot of the Forked Tail. Lana seemed distant in a way that I couldn't pinpoint but I didn't want to make a big deal about it. We had other things to worry about. She stalled the car and pulled the lever under the steering wheel to open the trunk. "There we go." I pushed my door open, swinging my legs out onto the gravelly floor. The small stones crunched under my feet as I hauled two of the fire extinguishers to the party space and put them down next to the others. "We were lucky that the store had these in stock but I'm not sure I'd ever go back there voluntarily. Did you notice the shopkeeper's aura?" Lana shuddered as she put her extinguisher down.
