Tessa said excitedly, "Got it! Hope everything goes smoothly, Celeste. Once my finals are over, I'll come visit you. Kiss!"
After hanging up, Celeste sat there, lost in thought, replaying what Tessa had just told her about Orion.
Meanwhile, Cassius returned from collecting seashells and noticed Celeste staring blankly at her phone. He couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong? Why do you look so down all of a sudden?"
Celeste sighed and shook her head.
Cassius reached out and playfully pinched her puffed-up cheeks. "Don't frown like that. You're gonna turn into a little old lady!"
Celeste smacked his shoulder hard. "That's what you get for jinxing me."
They both froze.
Celeste's face gradually turned red, and even her ears felt hot. Did she just... hit him? Wasn't that way too intimate?
