Chapter 30 When she knocks on my door, my first thought is to stay quiet. Maybe she’ll go away. She doesn’t. Another knock, and I glance at the window. Unfortunately, it’s a sheer drop to the ground from here; the porch doesn’t wrap around the house and wouldn’t break my fall. The door knob rattles. I locked it after myself out of habit.
