Falling for the fallen Episode 1

Chapter One: The First Encounter The city of Verra glimmered like a jewel beneath the morning sun — its skyline dotted with shimmering towers that kissed the clouds. Inside one of those towers stood Eternis Group, a company so powerful its name alone carried weight. Employees moved briskly through the glass doors, clutching files and coffee cups, whispering about deadlines and the man who ruled the building — Damien Blackwood, the CEO. He was known for his sharp mind, his unmatched ambition, and a face that looked like it was carved by angels but tempered by steel. Damien wasn’t just handsome; he was the kind of man who made silence fall when he entered a room — confident, intimidating, and dangerously calm. And that morning, a woman he’d never noticed before caught his eye. Lana Rivers. She had joined the company a few weeks ago, tucked away in the marketing department. She wasn’t loud like others, didn’t try to impress anyone. She was just… her. Graceful. Quiet. Beautiful in a way that drew attention without trying. Her hazel eyes always seemed to be lost in thought, and her smile — when it appeared — felt like sunlight after rain. Damien saw her for the first time in the elevator. She stepped in, holding a stack of documents close to her chest, a few strands of her soft hair brushing against her cheek. She didn’t even glance at him. Everyone else in that elevator stood stiff, trying to impress or avoid him. But Lana? She was focused on her own world. Something about that made him curious. He found himself stealing glances — something he never did. When the elevator doors opened on the top floor, she stepped out with quiet confidence, her heels clicking softly against the marble floor. Damien’s assistant, Elena, noticed his eyes following Lana. “New intern from marketing,” Elena whispered. “Pretty, isn’t she?” Damien gave a faint smirk. “Pretty doesn’t begin to cover it.” --- The next day, fate (or coincidence) made them cross paths again. Lana had been called up to the executive floor to deliver a presentation report. She didn’t expect to meet the CEO himself — and certainly not to have him watching her so intently. She spoke with quiet authority, her voice soft but sure. Damien leaned back in his chair, studying her — the way her hands moved, the way her lips formed words. There was something different about her. She wasn’t trying to impress him. She was just… real. When the meeting ended, Damien’s voice broke the silence. “Miss Rivers.” She froze a little before meeting his gaze. “Yes, sir?” “Good work,” he said simply. “You’ve got potential.” Her heart skipped. His eyes were intense — unreadable — but something in his tone felt genuine. She smiled politely, whispered a quiet “thank you,” and walked out. For the rest of the day, Damien found his focus slipping. Meetings blurred. Calls bored him. His mind kept returning to the girl with the quiet voice and the fearless eyes. For the first time in a long time, Damien Blackwood was falling — though he didn’t know it yet. 🌹 Chapter Two: The Coffee Incident The morning sun spilled through the tall glass windows of Falcon Dynamics, bathing the open office in gold. Lana sat at her desk, surrounded by the quiet hum of keyboards and ringing phones. It had been three weeks since her first encounter with Damien blackwood, and still, his voice echoed in her memory. She told herself it was admiration. Respect for her boss. Nothing more. But deep down, she knew she noticed things she shouldn’t — the way his sleeves rolled up during meetings, how he loosened his tie when thinking, the quiet power he carried even in silence. Still, she kept her head down. She had worked too hard to let a crush ruin her career. That morning, she was balancing a tray of coffees — her team’s order — when the elevator doors slid open. Out stepped Damien. Sharp as ever in a black suit, his eyes instantly found her. “Miss Rivers,” he greeted smoothly. Lana nearly froze mid-step. “Good morning, Mr. blackwood.” He smiled slightly. “Still bringing coffee yourself? I thought interns did that.” “I like to keep things personal,” she said with a hint of pride. “Makes people feel seen.” Something about her tone made him pause — confidence hidden behind softness. He liked that. But just then— Crash! Hot coffee splashed across his sleeve and her hand as someone bumped into her tray. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry!” gasped Tina, the secretary with perfect curls and an expression that didn’t quite match her words. Lana winced as Damien quickly grabbed a napkin and reached for her hand. “Are you hurt?” His touch was gentle, firm — and it sent a jolt straight through her chest. “I’m fine,” she whispered, avoiding his eyes. Tina’s gaze flickered between them, sharp with something dark. “I didn’t mean to, sir. It was an accident.” “Accidents happen,” Damien said coolly, but his eyes stayed on Lana — longer than they should have. When he finally walked away, Tina leaned close to Lana’s ear and whispered, “Careful, newbie. Getting too close to the boss could burn worse than coffee.” Lana forced a smile, but her heart was racing. She didn’t know why Damien had looked at her like that — like she was the only person in the room. And she definitely didn’t know why her hands still tingled where his had touched hers. But Damien knew. He knew exactly what that moment meant. And it scared him. Because for a man who had everything… Lana Rivers was becoming the one thing he couldn’t control. 🌹 Chapter Three: The Office Party The office buzzed with laughter, music, and the faint smell of champagne. Falcon Dynamics’ annual mid-year party had turned the top floor into a galaxy of fairy lights and glass smiles. Employees mingled, toasting to profits and promotions, pretending not to notice their CEO watching quietly from the corner. Damien Blackwood never liked parties. He liked control. But tonight, control felt like a distant thing — because across the room stood Lana Rivers, radiant in a soft red dress that made every light in the room bow to her. She wasn’t trying to outshine anyone. She just did. Her laughter drifted across the music as she chatted with Ethan, one of the new project analysts — young, charming, and clearly smitten. Damien’s jaw tightened as he watched Ethan lean closer to whisper something that made Lana giggle. He told himself it didn’t matter. She was his employee. Nothing more. But his hands had already clenched into fists. “Enjoying the view?” Tina’s voice slithered beside him, sweet but sharp. She had traded her office suit for a shimmering gold dress that screamed for attention. Damien didn’t look away from Lana. “Shouldn’t you be mingling, Tina?” “Oh, I am,” she said, sipping her drink. “Just thought you’d prefer company while staring holes into your assistant.” He turned to her then, his stare cutting. “Careful.” But Tina only smiled. “You can warn me all you want, Damien, but everyone sees it. You think no one notices how you look at her?” He didn’t answer. Because maybe she was right. Across the room, Ethan offered Lana a glass of wine. She accepted with a polite smile — and that was all it took for Damien to stride forward, his footsteps echoing like thunder. “Miss Rivers,” he said coolly when he reached them. “I need a moment of your time.” Lana blinked. “Of course, sir.” Ethan hesitated, sensing the tension. “We were just—” “Later,” Damien interrupted, already leading her away. They stopped near the balcony, city lights burning like fireflies below them. Lana crossed her arms, both nervous and annoyed. “Did I do something wrong, Mr. blackwood?” “No.” He exhaled slowly. “You look… different tonight.” She frowned slightly. “Is that bad?” His lips twitched. “Dangerous.” Her breath caught. The word hung between them, charged and forbidden. For a moment, neither spoke — only the sound of the music and the city far below. Then she whispered, “You shouldn’t talk to me like that.” “Maybe,” he murmured, stepping closer, “but I can’t seem to help it.” Their eyes locked. The distance between them felt paper-thin, fragile — one heartbeat away from disaster. But before anything could happen, Tina’s voice cut through the music. “Mr. blackwood! We need you for a toast!” He stepped back instantly, his face hardening again. “Duty calls,” he said, forcing a smile. “Enjoy the party, Miss Rivers.” As he walked away, Lana’s heart pounded so loud she could barely hear the music. What was she getting herself into? And somewhere deep inside, Damien knew he’d crossed a line. But he didn’t care. Not anymore. Because in that one moment, as her perfume lingered in the air — he realized he was already falling for her
