[ AYSEL ] One look at Haelyn’s eyes tells me she’s here to start a fire, and that’s the very last thing I need right now. My body aches and my limbs feel heavy, worn thin by the night before. I have no strength left to waste on arguments or confrontations, and no patience for whatever storm she has dragged into this room. So I say nothing. I just slip out of the bed slowly, gathering the bedsheet around myself to cover my nakedness. My nightdress lies discarded on the floor where it had been tossed the night before. I pick it up, pull it over my head, and let the sheet fall back onto the mattress. Then I turn and start for the doorway, intent on leaving without a word but just as I pass her, Haelyn’s hand shoots out. She grabs my arm and yanks me back hard. I don’t cry out or flin
