Chapter 5 Riselands squabble. Frank's POV: Dad summoned me early to his office this morning. For him to call him by 6:30 am to his office, it must be very important. It's been two days since the message of Gorz was confirmed and I have been preparing for my journey to the human world. So far, I have been told to avoid association with humans as much as possible and just find the cure lying in the garden and come back home. Interacting with humans wasn't a big deal but it's safer to maintain the peace and sanity of the two worlds by not mixing and interacting with each other. Some past interactions had proven to be messy. I will go to the human world at night today for the first time and carry out my search and come back home before sunrise. When I got to the Alpha's office, opened the door, and entered, the Alpha and our Beta, Stephen, were already sitting, waiting for me. “Good morning Dad. Good morning Beta Stephen.” “Good morning Frank” my dad and Stephen simultaneously greeted me too. “You called me this early Alpha, it must be serious.” I said looking from him to Stephen. “Yes, it is.” Alpha Robert replied. “The North Riselanders are stirring up trouble. Apparently, news about the ill health of our Luna has filtered out and I think the North Riselanders wish to capitalize on this to push some personal agenda of theirs.” Stephen spoke. “What agenda?” “I received a phone call from Alpha Canly and even his Luna, Mara last night. They wish to organize a Luna's Ball soon.” Arthur said. “What?!” “Yes son. But why now? Why now that the Luna is sick that he wishes to organize a Luna's ball? Something is fishy.” “Yes, obviously.” “ So what do we do then?” “Disagree. Refuse. Reject. A Luna's ball can't be held now.” “And what will we say is our reason for refusing? Remember that your mother, Salma, loves organizing these balls.” “Yes, it was her way of maintaining a cooperative spirit among all the Lunas of the various packs in South and North Riselands. And also a way to maintain her grip and authority over the women folk of all the packs in South Riselands.” “Exactly. Luna Mara also derived similar benefits from the ball. The point is, the Luna's Ball served a collective benefit of helping our pack and Sunmoon pack maintain our authority and position over South Riselands and North Riselands respectively.” “Hence, it will be very strange for us to cancel and reject the idea of the ball. But, we can also not let people know that our Luna is very sick. That will be messy and even laughable when they learn that the cause of the sickness is an injury from the battle with the Chenzis.” “Our position as the ruling pack in South Riselands could be in jeopardy. I mean if ordinary Chenzis could injure our Luna to this extent, then imagine what damage other packs will think they can do to us.” I breathed in and breathed out deeply as the room became silent with everyone contemplating what to do next. “Beta Stephen”, I finally said, breaking the silence. “You said something about an agenda. An agenda that the Sunmoon pack has. Can you elaborate?” “Yes” Stephen replied, bringing out his phone to search for something. “Look at this”, he said showing a letter on his phone to my dad who in turn passed it to me. “I think that Canly has this funny idea of unification. Uniting South and North Riselands to become one single entity.” I broke out in laughter. “Well, that's laughable and impossible.” I said still laughing. “Well, it's not so impossible. Under the right circumstances and if we are vulnerable, they can unify us by coercion, overthrow our pack, and become number 1. You know that when it comes to strength, power, influence, etc, Temson pack and Sunmoon pack are equally matched right?” “It won't be easy for us to beat them in battle, neither will it be easy for them to beat us. In fact, the only advantage we have over them is the possession of the Safeyah cave; a property of South Riselands.” “So what do we do?” I asked no one in particular. “I have an idea. I want us to clone your mother, Frank.” “Huh?” “Yes, your father and I think that until your mum recovers, a clone of our Luna has to be made for the meantime. Listen, we won't outrightly deny that she isn't sick. We will say that she is sick but is getting better.” “A clone can be made in two days or three.” my dad said. “Honestly, I don't know dad.” “Look son, I get your worry. But this has to be done. The clone will organize the Luna's ball with Luna Mara which will kill any suspicion about any perceived weakness of our pack.” “Yes Frank.” “Ok dad. Hmmm, I think I have something else to add.” I said after thinking for a few minutes. “What is it Frank?” “Something that will spice up your plans and make it even better.” “And that is?” “Pregnancy!” “Ehhh?” “Frank?!” My dad and Stephen said surprised at my words. “Yes. I mean we can't let them think that our pack is weak right? So why don't we make them think that our pack has become even stronger? How about we make them believe that mother is pregnant? Our Luna is carrying another Alpha blood in her womb.” I concluded smiling. “Hehee! I love this kid.” Stephen said smiling tapping me affectionately on my head. “Ahhh! My son. That's a fantastic idea. It will be done.” my dad said, smiling and hugging me. “Now you just go to the human world and get the cure so your mum can get pregnant for real.” my dad, Alpha Arthur said winking. “Dad!!!” I said laughing and nodding my head.
