Episode 6: An overdose

840 Words
Lisa's POV: A party was being held at home tonight to celebrate a huge deal that dad's company had closed with an international, global brand called Globco. Friends, family members, and of course, dad's employees were all expected to be at the party. The party was to start by 7 pm but guests started arriving by 5:30 pm; mostly family members though. Lady Velvet had picked out a beautiful pink evening gown for me for the party and I straightened my wavy hair too. I looked breathtaking and I knew it. “Hello Lisa” “Oh hello, Steph” It was my arrogant, self-absorbed, big, and foul-mouthed cousin, Stephanie. Her parents and her and her siblings had arrived by 6 pm. “Notice my gown?” Steph said turning around to give me a 360-degree view of her sparkly purple knee-length gown. “Uh-huh. It's really pretty. And you look good Steph.” “Awwwn. Thank you.” Steph replied smiling at me. Typical Steph will never return a compliment even if it is fake or compliment others. “Do you know Shayna Basis? She goes to your college?” “Yes, I do. She's my coursemate.” “You know that she is participating in Miss Cavida right?” I was surprised but not completely surprised though. “Maybe that is what she wants to tell us next week. She said she has an announcement to make.” “Most probably it is. Oh! She is totally going to win. She was born for beauty pageants.” “Yh. You know Steph, I even thought of participating too. But maybe next year.” Steph's facial expression changed after I had spoken. She looked surprised and even disgusted at my desire to participate. “You want to participate in Miss Cavida?” she asked looking at me intently. “Yes, why not.” “Uhoh no. No! With that body and your lack of confidence, you won't make it passed the first round.” Steph said, and started walking away from me to meet other people. My mood for the night soured. I was so angry and bitter. It's not as if I was enthusiastic about this party in the first place. But Steph's words have finished any tiny happiness I had left. It was 8:30 pm and the party was still going on. I was sitting in one corner, angry and sulking, looking at Stephanie and other happy people at the party. Suddenly, I heard that song. A song that has never stopped hurting me. A song that I was still a slave to. I heard the song; A Thousand Years by Cristina playing over the speakers. I began to panic. My heart was racing fast as memories of my childhood kept flooding into my head. I ran into my room and shut the door. I reached for my pills and took them. But my anxiety was too much that night. So I reached for it and took it into my nostrils. I didn't care about the quantity I took. I just wanted to calm down. I couldn't see clearly. My eyes were getting dim. The big family portrait in my room was disappearing right before me and everything was becoming dark. “Lisa!! Lisa!!!” Mr. Happy screamed now knocking at his daughter's door. “Who put that damn song?! Oh God!” Aunt Dodo yelled. Dad and his brother were pulling at the door. Finally, they pushed it open and barged in. “Oh my God honey!!!” Frank's POV I passed the portal into the human world. And I was standing outside the giant gates of St. Louis estate. The gates were painted gold with a man's statue on the twin gates which I assume is the St. Louis. “Ok Frank. You know why you are here. Get to work.” I looked around and saw the bushes surrounding the estate. I climbed a tree and started moving into the estates by swinging from one tree to another. I was looking over at the order of the houses in the estate. I noticed that all the houses had gardens as Gorz had said. I heard some noise in the distance. It was a familiar sound - an ambulance. I swung to the place and watched what was going on. Apparently, a party was being held in the garden of that house. I saw people with puzzled and worried expressions on their faces. A lady was being rushed out of the house, placed on a stretcher. Even though her eyes were closed and obviously something bad happened to her, I couldn't help admiring her beauty. Her skin was fair. And her hair brown. Her lips were small. And she was tall. Her nails were slender and long. I watched as she was taken into the ambulance and the party immediately ended. Then, I got to work to search the gardens, looking for the cure. Something red. Something pure. Something emerald. Something sparkling under the moon.
