Valerie woke up. The bedroom was dark, the only light filtering in from the moonlight through the glass wall. She took her mobile phone from her pocket and checked the time. It was already fifteen minutes past eight in the evening. She got off the bed and switched on the bedroom light. Everything was still in the same position, the luggage bag still on the side of the bed. She didn't know how long she had slept; as far as she remembered, she had just laid down on the bed and closed her eyes. She pulled her bag over and unzipped it to unpack her things. After opening all the wardrobes, she looked for a vacant place where she could put her belongings. There was a vacant space that seemed specifically for her, as everything was empty – the drawers and a place where she could hang her dress
