Valerie was surprised to see Alexander already sitting at the dining table, having his cup of coffee while reading a newspaper.
Last night, he hadn't slept in their bedroom, which wasn't new for her because Alexander often slept in the guest bedroom. She usually only found out about it when she was cleaning the room.
“Good morning…” she greeted.
“Good morning,” Alexander replied without looking at her.
She took out eggs and butter from the fridge, along with an avocado and oranges so she could make orange juice. She cut a French bread loaf and toasted slices while she cooked the eggs sunny-side up.
After preparing the food, she served it on the table while Alexander was still busy reading the newspaper.
