"Maybe I am a fool." Sovia rasped, every word clawed at my chest. "But so are you."
My mouth closed around one of the tears and sucked. I could taste bitter anger and pain, like this gave me the slightest inclination of what she was feeling.
Yes. I'm the biggest fool.
Because at this moment, I wanted to take it all away and forget all about my own.
Deep inside my heart, in a low voice I asked myself. Sovia Henric, is there a day you would ever shed a tear for me — even a drop.
She wouldn’t.
Pain bloomed inside my mouth as I closed my hand around her shoulder, drawing her inside my body like I could take the wholeness of her inside me. Maybe… just maybe if we were merged, she would see me.
Not even love me—just truly stay by my side.
