Caleb shifted back to his human form after killing the brown wolf, who had also shifted back after dying. I avoided looking at the dead, naked man. Caleb came straight for me, under the bush, pulling me out and holding me in his arms. He looked so worried. And angry. The other wolves that had come with him, were behind him. He was blocking them from seeing my naked body, I was sure. Alphas tended to be somewhat possessive mates.
The smallest one of them patted forward and dropped a pack she’d been carrying next to Caleb. She was careful to look away as she approached.
“Thank you, Tori,” Caleb said, not taking his eyes off me.
The other wolves left us then. They didn’t go far, though, but kept watch while giving us some privacy.
