The Elemental Queen

Chapter 2: Alexandra’s new home

“Wow it’s so beautiful!”Alexandra said in awe.She was brimming with excitement and happiness.

                   “I’m glad you like it,if you want we can change anything just let us know.”Lukas told her.He looked at her with fondness in his eyes,then Mark looked at her with the same fondness.For once in her life Alexandra felt like she had someone who cares for her. Then she tried to go around and get her bag,then suddenly Mark grabbed it before she could get there.He reached over her and grabbed her bag with one swift,agile,movement.

                   “Here you go.Do you not have more?”he asked.

                   “No,I didn’t get new things,”she replied.

                    “How long have you lived with her?”he asked with concern.

                    “About 14 years,my parents passed on when I was 1,so yeah 14 years.”she told him.She just realized how long she had been kept there and she thought that it was very odd that she had such good socializing skill when she only talked to two people her whole life.I don’t know if that’s good or bad,she thought to herself.

                      “Were you happy there?”Lucas asked.

                       “Not really,but I had Lydia she always kept me company,she let me ride the horses.My aunt said they were a waste of time,but we had to have them since everyone else did.”she told them,smiling.They seemed to ease when she smiled at them,of course she didn’t notice it she thought it was natural.She started to wonder if maybe she would be able to go to school now since she was with different people.So she gathered up the courage.

          “I was wondering if maybe I could go to school?”she asked them once they got inside she was behind the two boys,and she noticed something she hadn’t before Mark had silver tips in his hair and Lukas had blue tips.That’s odd,now that I think about it everyone has different colored tips but there’s only four colors and everyone has one.Why is it only blue,green,red,and silver?

                       “You want to go to school?”Mr.Thomas asked,he sounded surprised.

                       “Well yes if that’s okay.”she asked a little nervously.

                       “It’s okay!Of course you can go to school!But do you mind if it’s their school?”he asked and gestured towards the boys.

                       “I don’t mind!”she said with excitement.

                       “Follow the boys to your room,okay?”he told her.

                       “Okay!”she practically skipped towards the boys,but held herself back,but failed with a smile.

                       “Why are you happier than before?”Mark asked, looking amused.

                       “I get to go to school!”she said with such joy she was practically glowing,and she was.She had a light coming from around her,it was so dim you could barely see it,but they could.

                      “Really,where?”Lukas chimed in.

                      “I don’t exactly know,but your father said it was your school.”she told them.They both exchanged worried glances to each other.

                     “I was wondering,is it normal to have different colors in your hair,or is it like a palace thing or something.”Alexandra asked them midway up the stairs.

                     “It’s perfectly normal,everyone has different hair color because that’s the element they control.See I have blue tips, that means I control the water, Mark has silver tips that means he has the control over air.”Lukas told her.

                    “So why’s my hair four different colors,is that normal?”she asked curiously.

                    “Well having more than one color is very odd,”Lukas started but was stopped by a nudge in the side caused by his brother,”ow,what?”Mark gestured towards Alexandra,she looked like someone who won the lottery but it got taken away.

                    “So I’m different,again.”she said with clear disappointment in her voice.Of course what did I expect nothing in my life can ever be normal,not even my parents death can be.ARRRRRGGGG,it’s all because of a stupid hair color,I just want to have a normal life for once,is that so much to ask for,she thought to herself.

                    “But that doesn’t mean your different,it means your special and if others don’t see it that way that’s fine let them,your our queen,and you’ll hopefully be our friend,too.”Lukas told her,and she was happy to hear those words,to have not just one but two friends!

                  “How about we show you to your room?”Mark asked.

                  “Okay!”she said still excited to have friends.And this time she was glowing even brighter,than before.They all went up to her room.She couldn’t take her eyes off of it,it was magnificent.She had never seen such beautiful walls or furniture in her life,she was scared to step into it because she didn’t want to ruin the carpet with her dirty shoes.The bed was humongous,it was twice the size of her closet,maybe even the kitchen.It had curtains that were a little bit taller than a small tree.They were a royal purple,and the design it had was magnificent,they were all roses,they had blood red petals,with grass green as stems,and the thorns were tar black.She simply loved it,and she loved how the silk bed sheets felt like crushed velvet between her fingers,the way it simply roll out of her hands like a calm waterfall.She loved the walls the most,she loved all the intricate details the normal eye would miss,but since she always helped with dusting she had to make sure there wasn’t one spot.She loved how it looked with a dark green,sea blue,metallic silver and maroon red all swirling together.

              “Wow it’s beautiful!”Alexandra said in amazement.

              “We hoped that would be the case.”Mark said adoringly.They both looked at her with adoring,and possessive eyes.Silently they hoped she would look at them the same one day,maybe she was the one for them.Hopefully she had the same mark as them and they would be together forever.They would know later tonight,hopefully,but they promised that they wouldn’t until she was comfortable and ready.

              “Will you be okay here alone,or do you want us to stay with you?”Luka asked eagerly,hopefully we can stay with her some more,he thought to himself.

               “Ummm...could you stay?If it’s not too much trouble,of course.”she said nervously.Not sure if they said that to be polite or if they meant it.

               “Of course we can!”they said in unison,eagerly,and smiling like they were someone who gets 1,000 dollars every time they breathe.Wow,i've never heard someone be so excited about spending time with me,she thought to herself.She started to tear up unknowingly,they immediately noticed and came and swept her up in a hug,not wanting to see her shed a single tear.

               “I know this is a lot to take in,but please do not cry,it hurts me to see you cry.What can we do to make you feel better?”Mark asked searching her face and holding her so gently afraid,as though she might shatter as easily as freshly blown glass.

               “Don’t worry these are happy tears,it’s just that,well,i’ve never had a friend or my own room or been treated like i mattered,it’s just so overwhelming for me.I’m sorry I made you worry.”Alexandra said with a smile on her face with a few tears still rolling down her face.Lukas went and got her a tissue,she started to say thank you but could not finish,for she was swept up in Mark’s arms,and carried to her bed with such suddenness she yelped with surprise.He laid her down on the bed with ease then crawled in with her while Lukas got in on the other side.They simply lay there in silence,with Alexandra laying there looking like a tomato.

              “Are you embarrassed,puppy?”Lukas says mischievously.

              “P-puppy!?”she asks, confused.

             “Yes,you are our puppy.Or would you rather us call you kitten?” Mark chimed in.

             “N-neither,please.”she said flushed.

             “Well,we have to let people know that your ours,so we have to have a name that only we use,”he saw the questioning look on her face as he said that “let's say we lost you in a crowd during a galla or something,we would call out your name,but perhaps there is another Alexandra there and we can’t find you so we call out your pet name.Then we know that your still here.So it’s for your safety and our sanity.”he told her proudly.

             “I feel as though that's not the only reason why,”she sees his mischievous smile “it’s not is it?”she asked.

             “No,it’s not.I just want to call you puppy.Is that okay?”he asked, looking very sincere.How can I say no,especially after they have done so much for me.

            “Yes,it’s okay.”she says sheepishly.She suddenly realizes that Mark is sleeping,with his arm wrapped around her waist.I don’t mind,if i’m being honest,she tells herself.

           “Oh!Do you want me to get him off of you?”Lukas asks.

           “It’s okay.He’s probably tired,i’ll just let him sleep.”she tells him.

           “Well if you don’t mind,may i sleep here too?”he asks a little sheepishly.

           “Sure,you must be pretty tired any how.”She lifts up the blankets so he can get in and be comfortable and warm.He immediately gets in and snuggles against her like his brother.She had always heard of “spooning” in her books,but she never thought she would like it.Is this what being wanted is like?I kinda like it,is that bad!?She made a confused face and she didn’t notice that he was looking at her.

           “What have you so confused about,puppy?”he asked her.She jumped a little,then Mark held her tighter.Her face reddened more,and Lukas snickered.

           “Just thinking about stuff I read about.”she told him,trying not to move so she wouldn’t wake up Mark.Poor guy,he must be very tired.

           “Why is Mark so tired?”she asked as she looked at him with concern in her eyes.

           “Well,we had fencing lessons,then horseback riding,then we helped prepare your room,then we ate,and we helped with the gardening,and then we showered because dad throw some mud then we threw some back and it turned into a mud war and we were filthy,”Alexandra giggled at that,”then we had lunch then came to get you.”he told her.

          “Wow,that’s a lot for one day.”she said half asleep.

          “Get some sleep,puppy.”he told her.

          “Goodnight,Lukas.”she told him,before she dozed off.

          “Goodnight,puppy.”he told her softly,kissing her head before he himself fell into the a deep slumber.Early in the morning Mrs.Thomas came into the room where Alexandra was,and saw that his sons were sleeping in her bed,holding her,almost protectively.Maybe they should sleep in,he thought to himself.

           “No one is allowed in there unless one of them says so.”he told one of the guards.

           “Yes sir.”the guard replied.The only two hours latera girl with blonde hair and red highlights came stomping into the glorious mansion.She was wearing a bright pink ball gown with bubblegum pink shoes.She had on makeup that made her look like barbie.She stomped up the stairs,and when the guard tried to stop her she used her fire element and singed his hair as a warning.

           “Mark!Lukas!I've missed yall!”She practically screamed as she barged in to Alexandra's room.All three of them woke up with such fright and abruptness that without knowing it Alexandra made the water anywhere in a 100 mile radius shake,and all the wind to blow faster,the earth to grow more rapidly,the fire to burn white,all in a second.The brothers felt the difference with their elements,they immediately held Alexandra tighter and more protectively than ever.They wanted her to always feel safe and wanted,never scared or abandoned.That’s one of the reasons why they thought she was their soulmate,thier missing piece.In their world everyone has a soulmate,they have markings on their hands to show whose is whose.They haven’t looked at her hand.Yet.She immediately calmed when she realized that it was that girl screaming,the boys looked at each other,sharing the same thought.She did that when she was frightened and unintentionally,imagine if she wanted to.When they thought about it they went pale.Worried when she saw their pale faces,she called their name.They didn’t respond she touched their faces still worried,they were not responding,and that girl kept rambling and she turned her back on them and was applying on more make-up.Alexandra didn’t know what to do so she did the only thing she thought that would bring them back from their trance.She kissed them on the cheek,they came back stunned and confused.

             “W-why’d you kiss me?”they both asked her.They looked down at her,she had curled into a ball in between them,hiding in embarrassment.       

              “Yall were not responding,so I didn’t know what else to do!”her voice was muffled but they still heard the embarrassment in her voice.They were looking normal,except they both had a flustered look on their faces.

               “It’s okay,”Lukas said sincerely,and when Alexandra looked up at him he said”puppy.”he smiled at her reaction,her eyes went wide and she was blushing so much you would've thought she had a fever.

               “Puppy?”Mark asked questionly and also sounded amused.

               “Yes,it’s her name so if we lose her we can find her.And I find it amusing to see her reaction to it.”Lukas told him while still looking at the little ball that was under the covers.They both wished it would be like this every morning,sleeping in,waking up to see her beautiful face,her long hair all messy,embarrassing her when she first woke up.What a dream that would be,they thought silently.Mark looked down and tried to get her out from under the covers,with no such luck.She stayed curled up until they heard an outraged huff.

               “Are y'all even listening!?See,we need to work on this.You two need to listen to me,or else this marriage won’t work.”the girl said in an agitated tone.She turned around to see the boys glaring at her.

              “W-why are y'all glaring at me!?”she asked worried.

              “First of all you barged in here unannounced,second you honestly think your going to be queen,third you think you can tell us what to do which you cannot,fourth you interrupted our time with the real future queen,fifth of all you were applying makeup in someone else's room getting it all over the carpet and walls.Would you like for me to keep going?”Mark asked codly,only speaking nicely when he was talking about the future queen part.She looked as though someone just slapped her.Alexandra looked at him with amazement in her eyes.Just then the girl saw Alexandra,eyes narrowing at the sight of her as though she was an oozing,disgusting bug that crawls around on the bathroom floor.Suddenly she stomped her foot on the ground causing sparks to come out of her shoe,the sparks turned into flames and they went towards Alexandra.Then suddenly the blue part of her hair lit up and she cast her arms over the two boys causing waves of blue water to come up out of nowhere to protect them causing the white flames to go out immediately.She lowered her arms and the water went with her arms mimicking her moves.The boys looked stunned at the sight,then they looked at the one who cast the fire towards her,the future queen.

               “How dare you steal them from me!You are nothing but a lowlife water element,you have no reason to try and defend yourself against me,a fire element!I will end you!”she sent bright white flames towards the bed,almost hitting Lukas but barely missing him.Alexandra saw it and her irises turned red from rage,she sent a wave towards the girl,she got caught in the water and it made her float upside down.She tried putting a fire around her to dry up the water,it did nothing.

               “Wow,that’s amazing,but maybe we should let her go.How about you put her in the yard?”Mark said in amusement.She’s amazing,Mark said to himself.After Alexandra put the girl in the yard her hair stopped and went back to it’s normal messy self.They heard screaming in the yard,and the sound of orders being called,and the clanking of armor.They looked out the window to see that girl burning everything and no one knew what to do they were trying to put out the fire.

               “What are you doing!?Stop that!I order you!”one of the guards ordered her.She just threw more white hot flames towards him and all the others,seeing that Alexandra got mad and her irises turned bright red and the green,blue,and red part of her hair started glowing.Suddenly the ground started quaking around the girl trapping her in a crater,stopping her from causing any more damage.The wind picked up,the fire was moving to Alexadras control,the water went up changing the dark smokey sky onto it’s baby blue self once more.The earth grew once more to its former glory.Alexandra still tired almost tripped on the way to the closet to change.

                “Hey,you've already pushed yourself to much,sleep.Plus it’s 5 oclock,we can sleep in for a few hours.”Lukas said with worried eyes,he guided her to the bed once more.Halfway there she laid her head on his shoulder,slowly nodding off.Lukas picked her up she put her arms around his shoulders and curled up,Mark saw the makeup on the floor and the singed bedsheets and mouthed to his brother that they should sleep in the other rooms while this gets cleaned up.Okay,mouthed Lukas.

                “Puppy,I know this is going to sound strange but I can tell that you want to release that power inside you,so I want you to think of a happy memory,ok?” Lukas asked.She murmured something that sounded like an agreement.She started to glow and float a little,she had a black cloud around her and then it was blue,red,green,and finally turned a silver mist.When she came down she had wolf ears and a tail,her ears were black with tips that were maroon red,her tail a blue that faded into a green,the very tip white.She curled her hand around Mark’s hand when he started to leave,looking down he saw how cute she looked.

                    “Lukas,come here.”Mark called to his brother,who was leaning against the doorframe,watching.Silently he came over to them,slowly showing his wolf form,his tail was blue at the beginning and shifted into a black,his ears was the same.Mark changed into his and his tail was black then white,same as his ears.They snuggled against her like the night before.She immediately calmed down,she may have looked calm earlier but on the inside she was so tense,but when they laid against her she got their scent and calmed once more.In the morning when they were abruptly awaken by a maid,she shook them awake and ushered them out the window that had a latter on the window seal with guards at the bottom.They were still in their forms no one really noticed nor cared,when suddenly Alexandra heard a ear piercing scream,she ran towards the door when someone grabbed her arm,it was Mark.

                   “What are you doing!?Let me go!”Alexandra demanded,she thrashed and squirmed trying to free herself.

                   “No,you could get hurt!Or worse.”he told her.She pulled as hard as she could and got away,she ran and covered her face so she wouldn’t breathe in the smoke,she followed the screams,they lead her to the kitchen.There was fire everywhere there was a girl standing over some of the kitchen help,the girl was setting things on fire and throwing them at the help.Alexandra's eyes went blood red,she burned with rage,there was an aurora of red spilling off her.

                  “Step.Away.Now.”Alexandra said in a quiet voice only loud enough for her,the girl turned around.

                 “What are you?This is my castle I can burn it down if I want to,it’s not here for freaks like you.”she told Alexandra,the girl launched a fireball at her,she dodged and threw her into a ball made of water and air.The girl looked like a lunatic floating around,her hair was a signed,messy,and orange birds nest,her dress was ruined it had dirt everywhere,there was ash all over it,at the end of her once beautiful gown,there was a burned hole bigger than her head.

               “She is the future queen,and she is not a freak.Stop showing up here,we already have a queen your father explained this to you.I want you to leave to leave and never come back.Alexandra could you float he out,please?”Mark told the girl coldly,only being nice when he was addressing Alexandra.As she did she noticed that her hearing and smell were a lot better and she had to look at the boys twice to believe her own eyes then she felt her ears go down,when she saw them,they had ears,wolf ears,and a tail.She looked at them with confusion,she noticed their tails were wagging back and forth,they touched their own heads as to tell her to with no words,she did and she shrieked she felt the furry ears on her head.She looked behind her to see a tail,it was fluffy and long,it was almost dragging on the ground,it was only about an inch or two longer than the boys.She took the girl and dropped her in the mud outside,well she thought it was mud,it was actually horse dung.The girl screamed with fury,Alexandra didn’t care she just ran to the nearest mirror.She looked at her ears and touched them as though they would vanish into thin air,just as she thought they appeared.

           “Let me guess you have questions?”she nodded towards Lukas”Well,first off last night we got you to show us your wolf form,all the people who work here or live here have their own wolf form,that’s why they live here.So we can protect them,they are people who think we’re some sort of disease,or expairament or something of the sort,we are not they just don’t like the fact that we can do stuff that they can’t.Yes we do have humans here,and the wolves that are here they are provided food,clothing,water,toys for the children,phones,technology,whatever else they want,they have rooms,they can go anywhere they want,basically do anything they want.Last night you fell asleep,so we carried you to bed and changed you,with our magic or course,then we realized that your aunt probably knew nothing of wolves so you most likely never showed your form,which we have to do every once in awhile to release some power.So we helped you,and I think you very nice with your ears up instead of down.”Lukas told her.She tried to sit down to take all of it in,when suddenly she was scooped up by Mark,he toted her to the bedroom,and laid her down on the bed and snuggled beside her.He covered her with blankets and wrapped his arms around her so she couldn’t leave.

                      “What is up with you and sleeping?”she asked him,he grunted in response and held her tighter,but not enough to hurt her,just enough for her to know that he wouldn’t budge and neither would she.Just then Lukas came barging in,looking irritated.

                      “Why do you always take her away from me?You know she’s my wife too.”he exclaimed,he got flipped off in response,she snickered at that.

                      “As much fun as this is,we can’t sleep it’s the middle of the day.”she told them,she then tried to get up,she walked into her closet to get some actual clothes to change into.She walked into the bathroom,when she felt a tap on her shoulder.

                     “Wear this.Since we can’t sleep and Mr.Grumpy wants to cuddle,we were thinking about watching a movie together,if that’s okay.”he handed her sweatpants and a baggy t-shirt and judging by the smell,the pants were Lukas’s and the shirt was Mark’s ,she accepted them.

                     “I have a question though.What is a “movie”?”she was very confused.Lucas looked at her in shock,then finally realized that she wasn’t kidding.

                     “Okay,a movie is like moving pictures of people,but they are moving together.You know what,I can’t explain it,so just get changed and then we can watch it and then you’ll understand.”he told her.She waited for him to get out,then she changed and she walked out,the shirt was pretty big and it kept falling off her shoulder,the pants were big to but they had drawstrings,so she tied them around the curve of her waist.The boys faces went red,they kept staring at her,and Lukas got a nosebleed after a minute or two.She raced to the bathroom to get a bandaid and came running into the room,she got him back to normal,sorta,they still couldn’t stop staring at her.They curled up in the bed,while Lukas picked out a funny movie,they couldn’t find one so they just watched regular tv,Alexandra was very fascinated by the tv,how it worked and how it had the color.Eventually it was dark and they fell asleep together.
