"Yes, I do," Gwen said firmly. Dominic hesitated for a few seconds, surprised by how quickly his employee responded. Nevertheless, he continued his embrace, holding Gwen tightly.
"I don't know what you're planning, I just hope you won't hurt my grandfather," he whispered before releasing the hug. Gwen only responded with a smile that was difficult for Dominic to interpret.
"I didn't expect everything to happen so quickly, there's nothing to worry about anymore, you two will get married the day after tomorrow. Just relax and let me handle everything," he said with a smile spreading across his face.
After Mr. Charles left, Dominic detained Gwen in his office. "If I don't come out now, the gossip will only escalate and more rumors will arise," she said.
"If you're bothered, just leave the company," Dominic retorted.
"I can't, Sir, I need this job for my family. So let me go to work."
"You don't need to work anymore, because soon you'll be part of the Cartwright family," he instructed. "Finish your work, don't forget to write your resignation letter. I'll take care of the rest."
"Okay, Sir, excuse me then."
Gwen walked towards the door, opening it quickly. She smiled as she saw Tsuri and a few other friends eavesdropping on their conversation. "Why did it take you so long to come out?" Tsuri asked.
"Earlier, the Big Boss came, what were you guys talking about?" chimed in another colleague.
"Are you crying? Were they teasing you?" added another friend.
"Don't worry, guys, nothing happened inside. We just talked things out," Gwen reassured her friends, forced to lie. "Now it's time to work, scatter... scatter..."
All her friends followed her words, heading to their respective workplaces. Including herself, sitting in her office while 'dropping' her head on the desk. She was confused by what had happened to her today, everything happened so quickly.
When she woke up this morning, she was still single, and now she was officially engaged to Dominic Cartwright. "How am I going to tell my parents about this," she muttered. Gwen remembered Dominic's instruction to finish her work before resigning.
She immediately turned on her computer, diligently completing all her tasks. Gwen tried to focus because today was her last day at work. She even declined lunch invitations from her friends and chose to write her resignation letter and give it to Dominic instead.
Nothing changed, she went home without being escorted by her fiancé, but rather by public bus. Even at home, she didn't do anything because all the wedding preparations were taken care of by Mr. Charles. Gwen behaved as usual as if nothing had happened.
It was only the next day that she received calls from her friends and her boss about her resignation. Gwen responded casually, not a single word about her wedding came out of her mouth, she was too afraid they wouldn't believe her story.
Towards noon, a car suddenly stopped in front of her rented house. Dominic came to see her and invited her to pick up both of her parents at the station.
"How could I contact them without my knowledge?" Gwen exclaimed.
"It doesn't matter how I did it, now pack your things because for the time being, you'll stay in a hotel with your parents until the wedding party," he said.
Gwen obeyed her fiancé's orders, immediately packing her belongings into a suitcase. Then they went to the city station to pick up her parents. Upon arrival, Gwen's parents were already waiting at the station exit.
They immediately hugged, releasing the longing they had suppressed for so long. At first, they didn't agree with Gwen marrying at a young age, but after learning about Dominic's family background, they changed their minds and allowed their only daughter to marry the handsome man.
Their temporary residence was not just any place; Dominic chose a luxurious and complete five-star hotel for Gwen and her family.
"We will have dinner with my grandfather. Do you want to meet him?"
"Of course, we should get to know your family," her father replied.
Dominic tried to blend in with Gwen's parents who seemed very accepting of their future son-in-law. Although it was evident that they were still confused about all of this. Even Gwen's mother quietly interrogated her daughter.
"You're not pregnant already, are you, dear?"
"No, Mom, I've been taking care of myself," she replied with a bright smile.
The evening came quickly, and the entire restaurant area in the hotel was closed by Dominic so that the two families could talk comfortably. It turned out that Mr. Charles was very sociable, he was already very familiar with Gwen's father.
The dinner went smoothly and very family-like. Mr. Charles outlined the schedule for the next day, and Gwen frowned when she found out that there would be no party after their wedding ceremony.
Dominic noticed Gwen's change in expression, he approached her and said, "A simple wedding party or a luxurious one?"
"It's up to you, Dad," she replied shortly, but a faint smile appeared on Gwen's beautiful face.
The dinner was over, and they all prepared to return to their respective rooms. Tonight, Dominic and his grandfather also stayed at the hotel because the wedding venue was nearby.
"You two come to my room, there's something I want to discuss with you," the grandfather said to the two prospective spouses. Dominic and Gwen nodded, indicating their agreement to go to the middle-aged man's room.
"What's the matter, Grandpa, inviting us here?" Dominic asked.
"I want to talk seriously with you, especially with Gwen," the man said. "The purpose of marriage is to have descendants, I want Dominic to marry soon so that there will be a successor to the Cartwright family. So, I hope after marriage, you will get pregnant soon."
"Pregnant?" both Dominic and Gwen said simultaneously.
"Why are you surprised?" asked the grandfather, confused by their reactions.
"We agreed to postpone having children because Gwen is still young, and I'm busy with office matters," Dominic explained, seeking a proper reason to reject his grandfather's request.
"I don't think youth affects pregnancy, and you can reduce your workload at the office," the grandfather retorted. "So I'm asking you to have offspring. Prove to everyone that you can have children."
Dominic shook his head, still refusing his grandfather's request. "But not now, we're not ready to have children."
"Why are you the only one refusing, Dom? Since earlier, Gwen has been silent."
Dominic suddenly turned to the woman next to him. Gwen remained silent, with many thoughts running through her mind at the moment.
"I assume you agree, Gwen, I want to have grandchildren as soon as possible!"
