Marla pulled at the silver chains that held her bound to the chair. Her wolf was gone, injured from the dose of wolfsbane they had hit her with as soon as they arrived back at Castle Droake. She shuddered, the taste of blood like burnt rust on her lips as she struggled against the cloth wrapped around her mouth. The guards had beat her, punishing her for ever leaving this dastardly place, and for her disloyalty to the pack in general. She blinked back tears as her eyes tried to focus on the dimly lit room. Candles cast lurking shadows off the wall, like dark spirits reaching for her soul.
