Leah... thought Justin. According to Lycon, she had departed Hartla before the attack. All Justin could do was pray she was all right-and hope she didn't hold his disapperance against him. Justin stood from the bed. He had seen Ahlund and Gunnar on deck, and Zechariah was bound to be somewhere around here, too. Maybe they knew something about her. At the foot of the bed, Justin found a set of clothes and boots. On the floor was a bucket of fresh water with a rag floating in it. He undressed, and each sweaty, dirt-encrusted, bloodstained layer he peeled off felt wonderful. He dunked the rag into the bucket and wiped it over his face. Nothing had ever felt cleaner than that cool, fresh water. Funny, to think of his former life in a world where getting properly clean required nothing less
