With Kaisa showering, Alec was left to think, his mind on one thing—his mom. Knowing as much as he did about her… it changed everything, but then maybe that was the reason Jennell had told him. She wanted him to be wondering who he was, where he came from, why it was there had been so many secrets kept from him… especially by the hunters who’d told him so many stories about his dad. Had they not know about his mom? Maybe. It was possible. He raked a hand through his hair, staring at the wall opposite him, seeing her all over again. He’d been so young when he lost them all, and life was so much easier for him if he simply didn’t think about them. Then he didn’t wonder why he’d been the only survivor.
