Her name was Alison. She was the first patient I served in Boston children's hospital. She means a lot to me and change a lot about my perspective in life. I never imagined that a single person can change me and how I see things. Flashback After I graduated college, I decided to live near my parent's house in Boston while reviewing my Civil Service Examination. That I am going to take on June 3. I decided to just go back because I feel safe when I am in Boston. One morning, while I was busy checking my phone, my mom suddenly called me and she doesn't usually do this so I had some weird feeling inside me that, this is going to be something good or bad. I slowly tapped the answer button on my phone and put it on my ears. "Good Morning, Mom!" I said with a happy voice. "Good Morning, Honey! How was your sleep?" Oh, guess what, that kind of question would be on to something for sure. I scratched my head and answered, "It was good??? What is the matter, Mom? go on tell me." I said irritatedly. My mom burst into laughter and said, "Hahaha! Darling, don't get mad!" *oh take this* she said to the person next to her. "Hello, Jannnnneeee!" The woman shouted on the other line. I was shocked but somehow those voices are familiar. "He-Hello?? I'm sorry, who is this?" I asked politely. "Oh, Jane! I forgot to tell you, it's Aunt Louise!!!" I covered my mouth because of surprises. My aunt Louise is my favorite aunt since I was in Grade School. I am also her favorite she said because I am her only niece. She always gives presents whenever she visits us. She's from Philadelphia and my mom's sister. "Aww! Louise!! I missed you so much! What took you so long to come here?" I said with excitement. "Darling, why don't you come over to your mom's place right now since you're just a few blocks away?" I laughed and said, "Sure thing! I'm comminnnng!" I said and they both laugh at the other line. I took my most comfortable dress and my flip-flops because I am so excited to see my aunt. I have not seen her for almost 3 years. I drove my car to my parent's house and as soon I reached their parking lot, I immediately turned the engine off and run inside. I run immediately to the kitchen because for sure they are in there and yes I am correct. As I have seen my mom and aunt, I shouted, "LOUISEEEE!" with a happy face and hugged her from her back. I look like a kid again but I don't mind at all. "Awww, my sweet Jane! How is my baby?" I cried in happiness and said, "I am good. Missing you so much!" She wiped my tears and said, "Shhh. don't worry darling I have great news for you." I look at her confusedly, she smirked and looked at my mom then my mom seems telling her to tell me already then she nodded to her. "I am going to live here from now on. Here in Boston. Just a few blocks away from your mom's house." My aunt said with a wide smile. I wiped my tears and asked, "Is that serious? b-but why??" while still crying. "I am going to work at Boston Children's Hospital. I got a promotion as Senior Manager so I can decide where I want to work and I decided to transfer here in Boston." I hugged her and said, "So this is going to be permanent, right?" I asked with excitement. "Yes, It is darling." She hugged me while comforting me. "By the way, Jane. Congratulations! What's the news about your examination?" She asked curiously while putting her phone back in her bag. I sat on the couch and took some cookies and said, "It's fine, Louise! Still reviewing." I said like I was bored. "Are you happy?" She said while my mom and she is looking at me. "I am, it's just that... it feels like I'm lacking in something or something us missing," I said plainly. "I understand. Do you want to volunteer in Boston Children's Hospital for a couple of months? While you are waiting for your exam. I know you would love to work with me and around kids." my aunt said. I looked at her with blinking eyes and said, "Sure!! When am I going to start?" I said excitedly and then looked at my mom. "Are you sure Jane? it wouldn't be easy." My mom asked. "Yeah, Mom. I am sure. Plus, I want to work with Louise so it would be fun for sure." I said politely then took another piece of bread. "Okay, if you want to. But, let me remind you, Jane, it will not be so easy. You should be ready, physically, Mentally, financially if it is going to be..." She said with worries. "Don't worry Mom, I can do this. I have been in a lot of challenges back in college and I was able to conquer them on my own. How much more volunteering at the hospital where there's a lot of patients going to be needing our help. it would be nice to see them getting better with our help. How would you know, mom, maybe my prince charming is there working as a doctor." I said then laughed hard. "You are so silly as always. Just make sure you are happy, okay?" They laughed. "Well, there's a lot of handsome doctors there Jane but look at me, I am still single and you are still my baby." They laughed hard and I interrupted them by, "Maybe guys are not for me, what if a beautiful nurse?" I joked. "Oh no, Jane! That's horrible. stop that!" my aunt said and she looks like puking. "Okay enough, Let me just prepare our dinner, soon your dad will be home, Jane. Eat dinner with us okay?" Mom said. "Okay, Mom." I opened the television.
