Iris's POV
I barely slept.
Every time I closed my eyes I heard Mila's voice again, over and over. The words sat in my chest like a rock. I kept replaying the whole night,It was a good thing she never got a clear look at me, just him. Just the Alpha with someone.
Around two in the morning I almost got up and went to his room. Chloe’s door was closed and the house was quiet. I sat on the edge of my bed for a full minute, heart pounding, imagining slipping down the hall and into his bed just to feel safe again, then I stopped, it was too dangerous. One creak of the floorboards and everything we’d risked would blow up in our faces. I stayed put, stared at the ceiling until the sky started turning gray.
I showered twice before I even thought about going downstairs.
