Chapter 3: The Chick

3594 Words
Krissy's Point of View I put the drinking glasses down on the counter, turning around. Only I stopped when I heard someone behind me. "Weren't you at my party?" The deep, attractive voice asked. Crap. What do I say? He can't know that I was at his party. He can't know it's me! "No. I've never seen you before?" I said. Hopefully Blake doesn't recognize me from the party or from class. I don't think he even knows we have Spanish together. He spent the entire class flirting with the girl he sat next to. "Are you sure? You look familiar." He said studying me. I shook my head. There is no way I am telling you who I am. I felt uncomfortable under his stare. "No. I'm sure I would know if I met you." I said. He studied me some more before walking away. Once he sat down in his booth, I let out a sigh of relief. Thank god he's clueless. "He's hot." Hannah said from beside me. I stared at her. Is she serious? Where did she even come from? Was she here the whole time? "What? He is." She defended. I rolled my eyes. "So not helping." I said. She let out a laugh before walking away to lean against the counter. I reached for two cups, filling them up with Blake and Adrianna's drinks. I grabbed them, walking towards the booth. She stayed behind the counter, admiring Blake. Doesn't she have a boyfriend? "Here you go." I said setting the glasses down on the table. "Are you guys ready to order?" "Can I have a cheeseburger and fries?" Blake said. I wrote it down, feeling his eyes on me. I felt a shiver creep up my neck. I ignored it, turning to look at Adrianna. "And you?" I asked her. She looked up from the menu. "Caesar salad please." She said. I nodded. She took her phone out of her purse and began to text. completely ignoring me again. "Your order will be out soon." I said walking away. I put their order in, feeling my phone vibrate. I looked around and saw Blake looking at me. His phone was in his hand. I left my own phone in my pocket. He'll suspect me if I check it. "Order up!" Our cook said after a couple of minutes. I dropped the rag I was using to wipe the counter and grabbed the plates of food, carrying it back to their table. "Here you go. Anything else I can get for you guys?" I asked. Adrianna was sucked into her phone, she didn't hear me. Blake stared without saying anything. I felt awkward. "Um i'll be back to check on you." "Are you sure I don't know you?" Blake asked again as I turned away from his booth. I chuckled, trying to hide my nerves. I slightly turned back to reply. "I'm pretty sure." I said leaving. I walked into the back room, letting out a sigh in relief. I felt my phone buzz again. I decided to check it. I was alone. He wouldn't know. just met some chick that kinda looks a lot like you I gasped. Oh no. He has to know that it's me. Oh my god. What do I do? Do I deny it or tell him it's me? I didn't know what to say, so I replied back something I would never be caught doing. I flirted. doubt it. i'm one of a kind(; I pressed send, feeling my nerves shoot through the roof. That should hold him for a while, especially because I do not flirt. Flirting is not in my nature; it never has been. Actually, I have never needed to flirt. I don't know how to flirt. So i'm hoping that was flirting. That was flirting, right? Right. Kate would know how to flirt. I put my phone back into my pocket, walking out of the storage room. I still had a job to do. I can't stay here and hide, and text him. That would be suspicious. I needed to act as normal as possible. Well as normal as I am. "There you are. Morgan is looking for you." Hannah said walking by. She was carrying a plate of dirty dishes. "Thanks." I told her. I looked around the diner, seeing Morgan at a booth. I walked over to her. "Blake is here." She whispered when she saw me. I rolled my eyes. She's so behind. She's going to flip when I tell her what happened. "I know." I said sitting down across from her. I handed her my phone. She skimmed the text messages before handing me my phone back. She looked at me with wide eyes. "So, he suspects you?" She whispered. I nodded. That's all she got? "He doesn't though. I think I steered him away. He also thinks that I, Krissy, have never met him and that I go to another school across town." I said. I felt accomplished by that part. I did good hiding my identity. "Good." Morgan said sighing in relief. I nodded. I was relieved too. Soon he'll be leaving me alone and i'll be back to my normal, drama-free life. "I do like this flirty side of you." "I was not flirting." I defended myself, although I knew I was. That was the point. The real Krissy wouldn't be flirting with the bad boy. Maybe this Kate persona I have created would be. I mean I was with him the night of the party. If only I knew what happened that night. "Whatever you think K. As long as you don't get caught." She said handing me my phone back. I shoved it in my pocket. That was the point. "Better go wait on them." I said walking away. She nodded. "Can I have another coke gorgeous?" Blake said when I reached his table. I wanted to so badly roll my eyes at his cockiness, but I smiled instead. I needed to be polite. I need tips. Harvard is not going to pay for itself. "Sure. More iced tea?" I asked Adrianna. She looked up from her phone. "Yeah sure." She said looking back down. I grabbed their cups, turning around. I rolled my eyes. Could she be any more rude? "He's so cute." Morgan said when I reached the counter. She moved from the booth to here. Julia must have fed her since she had an empty plate in front of her. She probably had a piece of pie. She loves our apple pie. "Who?" I asked her. I filled up the cups with their drinks. "Blake." Morgan said in awe. I rolled my eyes. Sure he's cute, but his bad boy ways make him very unattractive. I wouldn't want to date someone who sleeps with numerous girls, smokes, and parties. I also heard he's been in jail multiple times. I definitely did not want to associate myself with him. I was about to grab the full cups when my phone buzzed again. I looked up to make sure Blake wasn't watching before taking it out. you sure are. i can't get you out of my head babe. Wow. Can he be any more cliché? We met like three days ago. I don't even remember meeting him. God. Why did I agree to go to that party? Remind me to never drink again. "What did lover boy say now?" Morgan asked peeking over my phone. She sipped on her drink. It was probably root beer. She's obsessed with it. "Here." I said handing her my phone. I grabbed the drinks, walking back to his table. I put the drinks down in front of them. "Anything else I can get you guys?" I asked. "Your number." Blake smirked. Adrianna looked up from her phone. "What the hell Blake?! We're on a date!" She screeched. He started to laugh. His deep laugh made me want to go weak at my knees. He looked careless and free. His dimples popped out and his eyes were bright blue. I shook my head free of my crazy thoughts, leaving the two love birds alone. I walked over to the counter, where Morgan was smirking. "Someone is flirty." She smirked. "Tell me about it. He just asked for my number." I said. I went over to the cash register to print out his receipt. "I meant you Kate ." Morgan smirked. I rolled my eyes. I'm not really Kate. "I am not." I defended myself. I have not flirted with him once since he got here. Except through text but he doesn't know that. As far as he knows, i'm a girl that just works here who has no interest in him. Not that I do have any, which I don't. "Are too. You're smiling and you melted when he laughed. I like this side of you Kris." She smiled. I'm confused. She liked me flirting? What does she mean about me melting? "Thanks?" I said. I wasn't sure if I liked this side of me. I was usually quiet and focused on school. I never was involved in anything else. Why am I even dealing with this boy drama? Oh yeah. I decided to give up my normal life for one night of excitement to relax. Never ever happening again. At least it'll all be over soon. He'll get bored of me and leave me alone. Then, I can focus on school and work. No more boys. "Now, go and attend your man. I'll see you tomorrow." She said getting up from her seat. She flipped her hair over her shoulder, opening the door. "Bye Morgan!" I said as she walked out. I grabbed Blake's receipt, walking back to his table. He was all alone. I bet Adrianna left. I would have too if he was flirting with the waitress while out on a date. That's a total douche move. "Here you go." I said handing the paper to him. He handed me a silver credit card. I bet he was loaded. I heard that his dad owns like some big company that makes billions of dollars. No wonder he's so careless about everything. "She left." He said. I looked at him. "Huh?" I replied. What did he say? "The girl. Why don't you sit?" He asked. He gestured to the spot in front of him. For a brief second I wanted to take his offer, but I knew better than that. I needed to stay as far away as possible from him. "No, thank you. I'll be back with your card." I said leaving him there. I walked back to the register, sliding the platinum card. I punched a few buttons, printing another receipt. I took a deep breath. What is happening to me? Why am I all of a sudden changing when it comes to Blake? He is nothing more than the bad boy at school. He doesn't even know I exist. He'll forget about me in a few days. "I'll definitely appreciate your number." I heard someone say. I jumped upon hearing his voice. I turned around. Blake was leaning over the counter, his biceps bulging. He really did have a nice body. I bet he had a six pack. "Thank you for coming." I handed him his stuff back. He took it, smiling at me. He looked down at the receipt. "No number?" He fake pouted. I shook my head. "Maybe next time. Have a good day." I said. I turned back around, walking into the back room, leaving a stunned Blake. I was stunned too. I just flirted with him. Again. - Clothes were flying and shoes were being thrown. I watched my best friend destroy her closet. She was looking for an outfit to yet another party. I was laying on her bed trying to study for my government test. I was sleeping over so that she didn't have to sneak into my room. Plus, my parents were going out. "Krissy. Please come with! Maybe we can figure out what happened with Blake last weekend." Morgan said. I shook my head. I was not about to repeat that, even if I don't know what happened. "No. I'm staying in and studying. Maybe i'll go wild and watch Netflix." I said. She turned around and stared. "That is not wild Kris. I do that normally." She said turning back around. I sighed. This week was crazy. After Monday night at the diner, he was texting me constantly. I had to shut my phone off a couple of times so I could focus in class or on homework. He never came back into the diner, which I was grateful for. He also never noticed that I was in his Spanish class. He would just flirt with whatever girl he decided to sit next to. For once, I was happy with my simple nerdish look. He won't glance at me with my petite frame, frizzy brown hair, and thick glasses. But then again, maybe I should go to the party. Blake won't recognize me if Morgan does my makeup and hair. I'll look like an entirely different person. I could find out what happened that night between us. But do I really want to know? I'm scared that the truth is going to be bad. I don't want to find out that I lost my virginity to the bad boy and I don't even remember it happening. Or even losing my first kiss to him! But this truth has been killing me. I need to know. "Ugh!" I groaned. I dropped my pencil on the bed, causing Morgan to turn around. "I'll go." "Oh my god. Yes!" She said with a scream. She instantly threw a dress at me. I bet she already had it planned. It was pink with a strapless crop top and a body con skirt with an asymmetrical cut in the front. It would stop below my butt, barely covering it. "Um?" I said holding up the pieces. She expected me to wear this? This was way too revealing! "Blake won't recognize Krissy but he'll know this is Kate. Besides i'll do something crazy with you hair so he can't recognize you later." Morgan said walking into her closet. A few minutes later she walked out with a pair of light wash, distressed shorts with studs on the pockets and a black body suit tucked in. A black leather jacket on top and black stilettos on her feet. "Now you. Change." Morgan ordered. I nodded. I took the dress into her closet, putting it on. I then walked out to see her holding a pair of nude heels. "Those?" I asked. She nodded. She handed them to me. I sat down on the bed, putting them on. Maybe I should get my toes done soon. "Now. So that we make sure Blake doesn't recognize you, I am dying your hair tips red." She said going into her bathroom. She walked out with a red bottle of dye. "Oh no. Not happening." I said. He was bound to recognize me at school if I had red hair! "It's washable." Morgan said rolling her eyes. I relaxed. "Oh okay." I said. I felt better knowing it wasn't permanent. "Now sit and take off your glasses. You have your contacts right?" Morgan said. I nodded. I grabbed my backpack and took out the supplies for my contacts. I went into the bathroom to put them on. I was blind for a quick second before I inserted the contact lens. I blinked a few times, seeing myself in the mirror. I looked different in just this dress. With makeup and hair, Blake will certainly not know i'm Krissy. "Kris!" Morgan yelled. I stopped looking at myself in the mirror and walked out. Morgan was standing by her vanity. I sat down letting her change me. She did my makeup with thick lashes and a nude lip. What caused me to gasp was my hair. She curled it and dyed the tips red. I didn't think I would look good with red but it suited me, contrasting with my tan skin. "So, whatcha think?" Morgan asked. "Woah." I said still looking in the mirror. "I do not recognize myself." I said still staring at my reflection. I looked like a total different person. I am amazed how makeup and clothes can change someone. I guess this is perfect if I want to become Kate. I am determined to find out what happened that night with Blake. It's been over a week since the party happened. Some kid on the football team was throwing a party and he just happens to be friends with Blake. So he's gotta be there. "Let's go." Morgan said. I nodded. I followed her out of her room and down the many steps. Morgan lived in a mansion. Okay, a giant house. Although compared to mine, it was a mansion. She has four stories, one being a basement. She has the top floor all to herself. The third floor has a movie room, a gym, and like four guest bedrooms. Her parents live in the basement, not wanting to hear her parties. "You guys should really invest in an elevator." I said when I reached the first floor. We walked down the hallway to the front door. I was tired from the heels and we haven't even left the house yet. Maybe I can convince her to let me switch into flats. "I know. Dad said no because it causes us to exercise or something. I don't know. He just doesn't want to add yet another thing to the house." Morgan answered. She opened the front door and out we went. - We weren't even at the party yet and I was able to hear the music. The street was thumping and cars were all lined up down the street. People were walking, stumbling over their feet. It was barely 10:30 and they were already wasted. Oh the life of a teenager. Remind me why I didn't choose this life. "We're here!" Morgan said pulling into the driveway. Since she was from the popular crowd, she had a mandatory parking spot in the driveway. Everyone else had to park on the street. "I don't think I can do this." I said looking out the window. How am I supposed to act like everyone else here? I don't know how to dance, I don't want to drink, and I certainly don't want to run into Blake. "Yes you can, Kate ." She said emphasizing the name. "We are here to have fun. You are a different person tonight, so act like it." "Okay." I said taking a deep breath. I can do this. "Let's go." We opened the doors to the car, stepping out. I fixed my hair before following her into the party. The house was packed with people! It smelled like sweat and booze. People were on top of each other dancing, not having a care in the world. Cups and beer bottles littered the floor, making people trip. "I'll get us drinks." Morgan shouted over the music. I nodded. I was going to need some time of alcohol in my system if I was going to act careless and free. I looked around, seeing tons of people from school. None of them would ever find me, Krissy at a party. They only knew me because I was the top of the class, the one who only did homework and studied. If it wasn't for Morgan, they'd torture me. "Kate?" I turned around seeing him. He was wearing black jeans that hung low and a black v-neck that emphasized his chiseled body. His blond hair was messy, yet still somehow perfect. "Do I know you?" I asked. I played the clueless card. Maybe he won't recognize me. "Kate, it's me Blake." He said. He had a huge grin, making his dimples pop out. I smiled. "Oh yeah. The guy who won't stop texting me." I said flipping my hair over my shoulder. I looked around, looking bored. I needed to act as if his presence didn't affect me, which it did. I could practically hear how fast my heart was thumping. His body heat was causing me to sweat and shiver at the same time. "I guess yeah." He chuckled. His laugh made me even weaker. "So, wanna dance?" I looked around for Morgan, ignoring him. She was walking through the crowd of people with red solo cups in her hand. Her eyes widened when she saw who I was with. She stopped walking towards us, still watching the scene. "No thanks." I said nonchalantly. "Come on babe. I know you had fun too the other night." He smirked. His hands gripped my waist, pulling me into his soft chest. "If only I could remember." I said subconsciously. I widened my eyes. Crap. I just told him. "You don't remember our wild night?" He smirked. His hands found themselves on my waist, pulling me into his chest. I smiled. The nerves from earlier started to kick in again. What do I do now? "One dance babe. Just one." He said moving my waist from side to side. I sighed. "One and you tell me what happened that has caused you to not leave me alone." I said. He nodded. "Deal." He said pulling me towards the makeshift dance floor. I guess i'm dancing with the bad boy.
