The Secrets of The Old House

Chapter 2 New Old House. Strange?

The day is finally here, the day we will be leaving for the new house. The car ride was long and bothered some. When we finally arrived the house was in the middle of nowhere it was a big house though. “ Movers will arrive tomorrow.” Dad stated clearly unhappy that they weren't here before us. Mom placed a hand on top of dads “ Well dear looks like we get a day of preparation and getting used to the house. The cousins will be here next week.” New house this is an old house welp lucky me welcome to the new, old, strange looking house. The house had large woods behind it which made it the perfect place for Dad and Adoneus. Getting out of the car I helped Ophelia out but she would not let go. Pure fear was radiating off of her. Eyes wide open legs slightly shaking , hands vibrating. Pure fear was a sign of that, I read that off of a book. I walked with Ophelia r***d around my body to the porch. The landing stairs squeak “ Hahaha! The stairs squeak like a mouse.”

Everyone but mom and dad were wary of the new house. I wasn’t the least bit afraid. Okay maybe I was but you have to fake it till you make it. I am the only one laughing. I walk to the door and wait for mom and dad to come unlock the door. Dad came up the stairs fast and handed me the key. “ Livitia wont come out of the car you go in, you get the first pick of bed rooms.” Dad whispered to me. Quickly shoved the key in and turned it.. Pushing the door open a Woosh of air I entered the house. With that the door was creaking, someone needs to oil the hinges mabe or its samosa to do that? The door was dusty, cobwebs covered every nook and cranny, little light just a little not much was all I could see. The door was open, the curtains covering the windows, the little light came from one of the windows that was covered but just a sliver was revealed “ Wow it's dark in here. Cough cough” When I breathe in the air, I inhale dust. A dark, musty house is just great! Walking over to the wall and starting to feel for a lightswitch.

Halfway around the room when I find one, it feels as if someone is watching me. Imposable. I flipped the switch and the lights came on. It's an open room, it looks like a gigantic ball room.. I see a large Starwell newel with a large rail cap bolted to the top of the newel. Walking over to the stairwell it was narrow and deep. The stairs were not too small but too large either. Just at that moment the rest of the family filled into the newly lit room. Ophellia, who was still in my arms, was looking around checking everything out, So I put her down so she could walk around. “ This house is Bizarre.” I stated the other looked at me Livitia then stated “ You mean Massive.” “ No you both must mean immaculate.” Aidoneus started very full of himself to say a big word. “ Nope no way you mean disparate” Blake soon started followed by his twin “ Na You should have stated ancient.” Soon after everyone was putting in their own inputs.

But I was captivated by the stairs. Looking at them now I can say they are in destitute repair. I stepped on the first step going up. It creaked and held my weight. 20 more steps to go. Gripping the railing I balanced my weight so half was holding on the rail and half on the step. Up a step I go, one by one till I reach the 14th I start to get more trustworthy of the stairs. I let go of the railing thinking, they must get better as we get to the top. Still weary I stepped up one foot and on the next step it was stable. It didn't creek like the first lot. Putting my second foot upon the stair. Fear gripping my heart bringing out the cold sweat. I looked down. It did not break.

Looking around at my family who were now exploring different parts of the house that's on the first floor. Smiling too soon, the board loudly shrieked, and I fell through the stepps. Sticking my arms out to stop my freefall. Grabbing wildly for a hand hold. I grabbed onto the broken stair where light shined into the pit of darkness. Pain sprung from my hand that was tightly gripped to the wood, arms straining from holding the wooden platform to long. Looking down to see if I could see anything to help me be stable. Dang this looks scary it's a long drop I would surely die or break something. My phone is in my back pocket but it would probably slip from the neverending sweat on my palms. Looking to my left there is a beam I could land on but I would have to swing to get over there. Straining to get my other hand attached to the wood. Finally with my aching arm a little rest, my inner thought process was cut off from the small almost unheard snapping sound of wood. I looked up in a hurry to plan how much force I would need to swing. WIthout much thought I turned my body toward the beam and moved my body and hands to create a swinging movement. That just in that distinked moment I flung myself at the beam as the would finally snapped. Hands out to catch the beam… I missed it by a hair. No no no I am going to plummet to my death. Letting out a shrill scream as I plummeted into the eternal darkness. I was grasping at thin air, till I felt my hand come into contact with something solid. Slowing my dissent to a stop and slamming my body into the strange surface it was connected to. Using my hand to see if it was a solid surface. It was till I could not reach any more I began pushing up to get onto the unknown surface. Once finally up upon the slab of stone I felt around for anything. I came into contact with a wall. Pulling out my phone I shined the furious blaze of light around me. Looking around my surroundings I walked over to the ledge, I am so lucky that I made it to the ledge there are no more openings. This house just got severely more interesting.

Creeping through the tunnel looking for a way goodness is creepy it also smells down here. No doors that I can see just a long, never ending hallway. Walking endlessly till I see some light. It's not a super bright light, just an easy little light. Quickening my steps I hurry along, maybe it's my way out. Once I got to the light it was a large library with many books, scrolls of paper and maps. It feels like heaven down here. I think the silence is getting to my head. This library looks like a place out of a book. With the rounded room and cool looking rails for many floors of books! Walking around the room it feels so unreal but I can feel everything. Grabbing a book off of the shelf it is covered in dust as if it hasn't been used. There is a big mahogany table desk in the center of the room. Paper and scrolls flood the table, a map of the house in the middle shows exactly where she is and how to get out. Taking a photo of the map I have to decide which hall way it is. I am now looking at the map. It shows a small red line to the right… Hmmm looks like I will be going right. Walking, walking, walking is what I seemed to continue to do. But I couldn't shake the feeling of someone watching me better to save my energy to run. Finally I reach a wall! I walked all this way to reach a dead end. I started to turn back but to only remember something from a movie. Maybe a hidden door! Felling the wall for a door. Pushing the stones. dudump, dudump,dudump. Foot steps! No way I am not going to let anything happen. More frantically I pushed the stones. The echoing of footsteps getting louder and louder and closer and closer. Till finally I pushed in a stone. And the wall moved. Falling to the wood floor I breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Who is in the house? What is in the house? Do I tell anyone? Will they believe me? No No and yes,maybe okay time to find the family. Hearing a commotion from down the hall. Speed walking my way there I see my brothers. “ Hey broskis whats up?” Blake turned around and pointed at the window. Looking out the window I see a car, our cousin's car. “ Weren't they supposed to be her tomorrow?”I asked. Aidoneus met my gaze “ No duu. Bjt here we are picking out our rooms to see them. Hurry pick a room so they dont get first pick. Here is livitias show and Ophelia's shoe along with the baby twins shoes hurry now no time to waste.” Exiting the room I look back and ask “ Does mom and dad have a room?” “ Down the hall biggest door. ” Bylane answered shortly. Dashing down the hall looking at doors, Big, Small, Round, Square, ONce I see no more doors along the hall I look forward to being face to face with double gigantic oval shaped doors. They had golden handles with intricate designs on them. “ Wow,” I breathed “Fit for a queen and a king. This is a really old house” Back to the task at hand I Walked over to the closest room and placed twinses shoes on the bed. I didn’t give myself enough time to look but I could tell you it looked amazing. Walking out of the room I looked for a neat looking door. About 2 doors down from the twins I put Livitias' shoe and walked back to the room in the middle of them. I swiftly made my way in and placed Ophelia's shoe as she liked to be together near family. Now for my room… Walking down the corridor Passing the wall I came out of. Many twists and turns I saw a dark wooden door with purple and silver swirls. Opening the door it wasn’t much like a bedroom but it was a mage's room look alike. I would have to sleep in the little nook. ( Mage is someone who studies magic like a Sorcerer or a Sorcerous)I placed my shoes on the table. In the middle of the room it was a table. This room had a library but it was a small one and it was vacant. Large ceilings with mystical animals on one of the walls. Walking over to the wall it had a dragon and a wolf. “ Interesting right?” Stated a voice. I froze in my place seeing if there was anything else, slowly turning around no one was in the room. I did one more sweep of the room to see if anything was there but no. Where could the voice come from? I looked back to the art on the wall. The dragon was black and had purple eyes; they were not welcoming whatsoever. The wolf was the same way purple eyes that seemed to look into your soul judging you, the fur on the wolf was black to match the dragon’s black scales. It's so beautiful. Walking out of my room I go to find my brothers to see how they got up here. “ Bella we need to go greet the cousins!”Bylane shouted “Coming!”
