It was early the next morning when LeRue rode up to the hacienda. Jed had just returned from his morning run. When he saw LeRue, he happily ran over to greet him. “Jed, I"m going hunting, thought maybe you and your father would like to come along.” “My father has gone over to the Batista"s and won"t be back "til late today, but I"d like to go. Come inside, I need to ask my mother first.” Inside the house, Francisca listened to her son plead rather than ask to go hunting with LeRue. “Yes you can go, but tell Juan, so he"ll stay close to the house in case I need him. You will be gone overnight?” she asked LeRue. “Yes, but I plan to be back around mid-day tomorrow.” “You be careful and good hunting.”
