As time passed, the pain caused by the murders of Francisca and the others at the Hacienda Francita, became more manageable. Carlos and his father appeared more able to cope and move on. Carmen, however, sometimes slipped into moments of depression over the loss of her murdered daughter. Everyone thought Crow and Jed were handling the deaths well, but no one saw them when they were alone.
In their cabin, Jed and Crow silently began to fix their evening meal. A knock at the door got Jed"s attention. He went to the door and opened it to find a boy holding a cloth covered platter.
