I still stood at the hotel in a muddle. Standing right in front of me, the last face I wanted to see.
“Amber..." he lowly grunts my name, his eyes peering deep into mine. The cold eyes I last saw, they seem to have emotion today. May be sadness.
“What are you doing here!?" I snarl ripping my hand from his arm. He lets out a small breath, pocketing his hands, almost seeming disappointed with my reaction. Does he think I forgot what he did to me?
" It's my hotel, “ he says. Of course, his family own almost everything in this country. I should have known.
“Ohh very well then. I don't need your sympathy. That's if you even have sympathy, " I sneer turning away to leave. It's not like he cares. Possibly offered because he thought I was someone else. He grabs my hand once more, sure enough to annoy me. I turn to glare at him, as to understand what he meant by this. Or did he just want me to throw me out, in person this time.
“It's storming outside. You can't go out there, “ he instead says, as though he cares. I'm not stupid, if he thinks I am.
" And why is that?" I question, not really interested in what he had to say.
" Because it's storming, “ he plainly responds. I give him a long glare fury roaring through my mind. How I wanted to break every bone in his body, but I just instead turn away to leave. Though I feel my bag of clothes being plucked out of my hand.
“What do you think you're doing?" I protest, as he rolls my bag headed to the elevator.
“ You can go into the raging storm if you want . I'll hold on these for you, while you get back to your senses," he replies already a few steps from the elevator doors.
“ Give me my clothes back," I protest trying to reach my back. He swiftly rolls it to his other hand, and it slips through my fingers. Rage rushing through my veins as I chase after him trying get the back out if his hands. “ I said give them back!" I explode in anger. The elevator doors opening, and he steps inside. “ You know I'm not part of this stupid game you seem to be playing. I'm really not in the mood of this kind of foolishness. And I don't really wanna get anymore angry than I already am, “ I tell him, already at the peak of anger.
“Are you threatening me?" He looks at me curious.
“ I'm just trying to understand if your brain has a malfunction or not," I sneer, as it was suffocating to be in a space so close to him. His brawny cologne and vetiver scent overwhelm the small space. The door finally opens into an apex of comfort and luxury.
“ This is my suite, you can stay here. At least until the storm clears," he says bringing my bags inside. I fight the the urge to let my eyes wonder in amusement. " Make yourself at home, “ he adds.
I snort in amusement, “ I'm not staying here with you. Or any other place, where you're present."
" Fine “ He says lifting my bag.
“Then give me my things."
“No," he refuses. The nerve.
" What do you mean, 'No', “ I try to understand where does he get the nerve to refuse with my things.
" I mean no. You are staying here tonight, “ he continues, as he walks away carrying the luggage.
" Why? Because you say so? You're not my Alpha! You can't tell me what to do! “ I protest infuriated by all this. Why are we even doing this?
" Well I'm not gonna let you wonder in that storm. It's not safe, “ he tells me.
" Ohhh! Look who the f*ck cares. The man that kicked me out in the middle of the night years ago. How sweet," I say sarcastic.
“Well it wasn't raining years ago. The bathroom is over there. There's there's a kitchen if you're hungry. I'm pretty sure you can find anything else you need for yourself," he gives me a mini room tour before totally disappearing into his bedroom.
“ I'm gonna wreck everything in this room if you don't give me back my clothes! “ I threaten. Though deep down, I actually really needed a place for the night. But he wasn't going to get the satisfaction of me being desperate. Surely maybe, he wanted me to beg him years back, but unfortunately didn't get the satisfaction.
“ Do whatever you want, Miss Summers," he responds from the bedroom. I'm left there in silence looking around the room. The expensive looking dining room, with a wooden burning fireplace, making the place very warm. It was almost silent, I could barely hear the storm from outside, only minimal signs of lightning from the window curtains.
“You're too quiet Stormi," I inspect my wolf. I was expecting her to be as freaked out as I was. Or maybe even more.
“ I'm thinking, “ she finally responds.
" What are you thinking? “ I inquire very skeptical.
" Isn't it weird. We find granny dead in her house. Then boom, Asher is only a few miles from the crime scene. Or not to mention... Forcing us in the same room as him?“ she lets me in on her thoughts. And they were very scary thoughts.
" Don't tell me what I think you're telling me. You don't really think he would... “
" The man is a psycho. He rejected us years, back and threw us out of his pack. Then all of the sudden he cares about us going into the storm. Really? “ Stormi explains. I contemplate, and it almost makes sense.
" But if you know this, why didn't you protest? “ I ask. My clothes were not that worth it, if this is where it led.
" He still thinks you're weak. Remember no one knows about me, or your training. That could to our advantage, “ she states. Though I didn't, feel safe with the potential man that could have killed my own grandma.
" Is there anyway this could be all a coincidence? “ I inquire, almost not wanting to believe the information. Because why? Why would he want my grandma dead?
“You already know I don't believe in coincidences. Even if he didn't do it, something is always fishy, " she tells me.
“But why though?" I question, struggling to find a reason.
“That's what we are here to find out," she says. I sigh, as I look around the room searching. Everything looked perfectly in place, nothing suspicious at all.
“ Well where do we start searching without looking suspicious," I wonder, still processing what I heard from my wolf.
“Well we do need to use the shower," she says. “Just be vigilant, we don't know what he's up to," she instructs, carefully sizing the suite.
" So we just act clueless, while we search through his belongings? “
" Exactly.“ I sigh headed towards the bathroom. Where I find a luxurious bathroom of white and chrome. With a soapy smell, and feel of warm water. As a distraction I turn the shower water whilst searching for anything to find. And just mostly shampoo and conditioner.
" How much shampoo does this man need, ” I wonder curiously taking of a whiff of the bottle before placing it back. I search the top cabinet, where mostly is medicine and bandages. “It's hopeless. There's nothing here," I sigh placing back the first aid kit.
Though I really did need a shower, I use the opportunity to clean my body. When I'm done wrapping myself in a towel. Quietly I try to sneak into the bedroom. It's slightly ajar, and I poke my head inside.
“Do you think he's here?" I ask Stormi.
“I don't think so. I don't sense him anywhere," she responds. Still it didn't feel safe. His scent is still everywhere.
“What if he locks us in here," I worry.
“ Thus prove he's the man we are looking for," Stormi says. I continue to tip toe to the bed where my bag had been placed. I search for my night wear, quickly getting dressed as fast as possible. With every second, checking my back. I proceed to check the room, and the was no sign of him.
I start searching around, for anything useful. Searching the closet, drawers but only just his belongings. Well this doesn't seem to be going anywhere. “Well, there's nothing here," I say on the verge of giving up, as I continue opening more drawers.
“Wait! What's that," Stormi jumps to bring my attention to the small paper that fell on my knees. I pick it up to unfold it, and read what's inside. My eyes widen staring at paper, as I notice something strangely too suspicious.
“Isn't this granny's hand writing?" Even if they say hand writings look alike, I know this hand writing. The cursive pattern on the paper looks way too familiar. Granny used to write a lot, and would give me her work to read.
If anyone, I'm the one who knows what should her hand writing look like. “What do these mean?" In the paper there's a list if names I couldn't recall. Rather strange names. ' Earagon'? None of them rang a bell to me.
“And what are they doing in Asher's drawers? See? I told you something is fishy," Stormi examines the list of words. “I also can't make out any of these words," she adds. I place the paper on top of the dresser, reaching for my phone to take a pick before putting it back in the drawer.
“What do we do now?" I ask for assistance as I dart my eyes around the room. Still no sign of Alpha Asher.
“We search the kitchen," she says and I chuckle.
“Yeah let's search the kitchen. Pretty sure we'll find something useful in there," I mock her, and she rolls her eyes.
“Don't blame. All this detective work made me hungry," she says.
“I'm not hungry. I don't think I can eat after everything today," I tell her. After today's experience, I don't think I can enjoy anything. My stomach feels tied.
“ Amber you still have to eat. I'm not letting you starve yourself. You need all the strength you can get. What if something happens, and you have to fight your way out, but you're too weak because—”
" Okay! Okay! Gosh! I'll eat. Just stop with the lecture, “ I protest.
" Good. Now let's go search the kitchen, “ she orders. I just roll my eyes, headed to the kitchen. " Let's see what the Alphas eat.“ I just my eyes, headed to the kitchen. It really looks good, with natural wooden cabinetry and stainless steel kitchen appliances. But when I open the fridge is mostly just filled with sadness, opposite of what I expected. What I'm I too do with water, and energy drinks and, “ is that frozen Mac and Cheese?"
" This looks depressing, “ Stormi comments as we explore very disappointed. Still looking, Alpha Asher's scent fills the room.
" Look who finally decided to stay, “ he coaxed, his hand reaching above my shoulder to take a bottle of water from the fridge. Our bodies touching, sends goosebumps allover. The temperatures rises too high despite being the coldness from the fridge.
" What do you eat anyways? Your fridge looks depressed “ I inquire, closing the fridge. I retort when I turn around to see him, shirtless, sweat dripping all over his muscles. His rippling muscles flexing as he down the bottle of water.
“ Well this is awkward,” Stormi comments, both of us feeling very uncomfortable.
He finally puts down the bottle to speak to me.“ I'm a werewolf Mrs Summers. I can hunt my own meal," he responds. Yes, because I can't hunt since I don't have a 'wolf' according to him. How classic.
“How cute? Did you save some for later?" I raise my eyebrow with arms folded above my chest.
“I would have, if I had known you were coming today.“ His response is as if he gives a damn about me.
“Ohh aren't you the sweet one. And here I thought you'd love to see me starve to death. Otherwise what did you think would happen years ago when you threw me out," I sneer, sizing him up and down.
“You know... You've awfully grown a lot tongue over the years," he claims, narrowing his eyes at me. Ohh now he thinks I talk too much. I should bet, Kamila grew awfully mute over the years.
“ You think? So what are gonna do about it Mr Alpha?" I challenge him. Opening a drawer he pulls out duct tape as if to threaten me with it. “ Ohh please let's get on with it. And show me your true colors. Pretence doesn't look good on you," I exclaim, not too fazed with his silly threat.
“There are cookies in the jar. You can make coffee if you want," he sounds enraged tossing the duct tape on top of the counter before storming away.
“ Would you look at that. Mr Alpha is angry," I chuckle internally speaking to Stormi.
“I don't really approve pushing his buttons," she says. She doesn't? Well I do, very much.
" So I should bend my knee to everything he says? Are you sure about that?"
“I'm saying we should bend our knees. I'm just to anger him is not the best option," she replies.
“ Yes you're right. Killing him is the best option," I say to her, this being one of the many times I've thought of killing him today.
“ Let's just make some coffee.“
And so I do. Making a well deserved cup off coffee. " Chocolate chip cookies? Shouldn't these give me diarrhea? “ I question, as I knew chocolate, is not an option to opt for.
" Well that's the Alpha's plan, “ she responds very skeptical of the cookies.
" But he's eating them, “ I recall.
" Maybe, he wants us to think he's eating them, “she says.
“But they smell so good," I was almost drooling with the inviting smell. I know I didn't want to eat, but now my stomach growls in hunger.
“They do smell good. And very familiar too," she notices. And yes they did smell familiar. Very much familiar.
“Well a bite shouldn't hurt, “ I have a mouthful, regardless of my wold protesting. And the that's when it hit me where the familiar smell comes from. My mouth gape in shock, as the cookie drops to the floor. “Granny..."
