"It's been a pleasure working with you, little hybrid." The Reaper purred, raising his scythe.
"Until we meet again." I said, screwing my eyes shut.
There was a terrifying whoosh sound, and then nothing.
That moment of nothing was the most terrifying moment of my life. But then I saw a light. It was a pinpoint in the distance, so small I might have missed it had I not been so desperately looking for it. I focused on it, on that precious light, running towards it with everything that was left of me. It felt like an eternity, but the dot of light began to get bigger with each passing moment. Or was it a minute or an hour? Less than that? A second? Nanosecond? All concepts of time were foreign to me in this form.
For the first time in my life, I felt a calm wash over me. Re
