“Why, Raven? Why did you do that interview?” Kiri's voice was strained. “I made the decision to sing to save you. I knew there would be consequences. I knew I might die, but I did it anyway.”
“How did you think that putting yourself in danger would help me?” Raven replied.
“I wanted you to be released from pain, set free. You wouldn't have known what happened to me afterwards.”
“As soon as you began to sing, I knew what would happen to you. What were you thinking?” Raven's voice was rising, his body shaking.
“I wanted to save you, and if saving you meant sacrificing myself, then I was willing to do that. I had accepted the consequences, but now you've changed everything. You did that awful interview and tomorrow I have to leave.”
