Chapter Twenty-OnePresent day The arena stood still. Time stood still. Eerie silence filled the hall and nobody dared move. Raven stood with his back pressed up against the ropes, paralysed with shock. He was frozen, awaiting a reaction from the crowds, but they were as immobilised as he was. His hands were wet with sticky blood, and he wondered how much of it was Khan's blood and how much his own. He rubbed his hands on his trousers in an attempt to cleanse himself, but the blood smeared and spread across his clothes. Hopelessness closed in around him and he looked into the faces of the people around him. At any moment the crowd would surge. One person would start it.
