Chapter Four

After the introductions, Yanna and I headed to the guest room where our uncle's family would be staying. The online seminar we had to attend was no excuse to escape. We were supposed to write a story for a contest and needed to attend the seminar for that purpose. Once the seminar was over, I returned to watching Kinn Porsche in the guest room, with Yanna by my side. She had dozed off, so I decided to head upstairs to continue watching in my room. I couldn't help but chuckle as I saw Alyia trying to guess which door led to the restroom. Her rhythmic guessing game was quite amusing. It made her seem like an ordinary person, just like anyone else. And then it hit me—she was entering my room! I cautiously approached my room and was about to open the door when I heard her running. I saw her dart out onto the balcony and jump onto the roof, quickly entering her room. "Why did she have to run like that?" I thought, finding it a bit bizarre. I was about to grab the TV remote to continue watching Kinn Porsche when I noticed my childhood picture was missing. Did she take it? No, I shouldn't jump to conclusions. Maybe I misplaced it. That girl was either really strange or just trying to act cool. "Well, I don't have time to dwell on it anymore. I'm already stressed about Vegas and Porsche," I muttered to myself. I locked the door and changed into more comfortable clothes. Goodbye, world. BL dramas and East Asian dramas were more important to me than entertaining guests. "Eliyassa Ramos! Open this door!" Mom shouted as she knocked. Wait, it's already 8 pm? I hadn't even realized it had gotten so late. I had become completely immersed in what I was reading."Sure, just wait a moment, Mom," I said, trying to buy myself some time. "What do you mean, wait? Join us for dinner! You always skip meals and then complain about being hungry. I might just unplug the Wi-Fi!" Mom snapped at me, clearly angry. I opened the door and saw Mom waiting impatiently on the other side. "Are we still entertaining guests downstairs? It's already late," I asked. "Yanna went home because they have an early appointment tomorrow. There were no other guests. Our neighbor, Divina, sent some food over, so I invited her to join us. Make sure you behave. Take a cue from Divina's daughter, Yia. She's such a well-behaved, intelligent, and beautiful girl. That's the kind of friend you should have, not just anyone," Mom whispered quickly. It was like she was rapping a whispered message. Another comparison from Mom. First, it was Yanna, now it's Yia. Sigh, even though Mom compares me to others, she still takes pride in me when talking to others. I already know that she secretly cares. That's just how she shows it. She's a typical Filipino mom, after all. As I descended the stairs, I saw Yia at the table. She smiled at me and tapped the seat beside her, inviting me to sit next to her. With no other available seats, I had no choice but to sit beside her. Well, this is awkward... Why does she keep looking at me? Do I have something on my face? It made me feel self-conscious. I noticed that she had changed her clothes. She was now wearing simple black attire. Does she only wear black clothes? She kept serving me food as if I couldn't do it myself. 'I have hands!' I wanted to yell at her silently. "Do you want some adobo? I cooked it myself," she said with a smile. Well, she's good at cooking. But sorry, I don't like pineapple in my adobo. How do I refuse politely? My mouth refused to move. "Uhh, it's fine. I still have some food," I managed to say. "Oh, okay then," she replied, smiling at me but also looking a bit disappointed. What did I do wrong? Her siblings had already left, but her mom and she stayed behind. It was nice to see her mom bonding with me and ensuring our comfort. I noticed that her mom and my mom had a lot in common, which made it easier for them to get along. Feeling a bit uncomfortable under her gaze, I decided to retreat to my room and watch some BL dramas. An hour passed since dinner, and I felt a bit suffocated in my bedroom. I decided to step out onto the balcony. There she was again, wearing an oversized polo and, I think, a T-shirt. She still had her specs on and her hair was messy. If any guy saw her like that, they would go crazy over her. Sigh, I wish I could be as cool as her. I noticed she was reading The Little Prince. She had good taste in books too. I ignored her and continued watching my BL drama. I wanted to marry both Mile and Apo. I couldn't help but think that Yia could be the girl version of Kinn. I mean, she looked cool...
