Assured and relieved, Derrick started to tell her about his secret when Shawn and Kyle interrupted him through the pack link “Alpha, the witch has arrived.”
“Ahhh… Damn… Not now, not again… Uhhh”, Derrick groaned, angry and frustrated at yet another interruption. He got up and started pacing to calm himself down as Cassie looked at him, amused at the play of emotions on his face. He was happy one minute and looked as if he wanted to tell her something significant, but then he froze, and his happiness turned to shock and anger. Cassie could not make sense of any of his emotions, except maybe for happiness. Before she could ask him what was bothering him, he turned to her and said, “I hate to do this, leaving in the middle of a crucial conversation, but it’s unavoidable.”
