9TH LIFE ( nine days to leave or die ) Chapter 4 Day four. part two

Seth’s father was having a talk with Mr tamu and after telling him how sorry he and the staffs were for his lost, he offered to let the school take care of the burial. His reasons was that since there was no church to take care of it which he knows they would have preferred, they should let the school assist them with the burial given that they’re part of the system now and are considered family. Mr brownson saw no harm in the offer since they are new here.

Then at the clinic the mom went to the morgue to see her son’s body one last time before the burial, probably with the hope that this was just a nightmare and she’d somehow see that he’s still alive. But when she got in and pulled the drawer Michael was in yesterday there was no body inside. She was surprised and then she pulled the next drawer and no body was inside as well. After opening three more drawers without seeing her sons body or any body for that matter she became alarmed and started yelling for attention. The person in charge of keeping the morgue came in and told her she wasn’t suppose to be in here at this time that she has to leave. Astoned by that she asked him what he meant by she can’t be in here right now. “Where’s my son’s corpse” she asked. The attendant told her she’ll see her son’s body when she comes back at the right time and then told her again that she need to leave now.

She disagreed and started causing a scene but while trying to fight them off she was taken outside the morgue. “What is happening” she thought. When she took the matter to the person in charge of the clinic she was told that the care takers at the morgue takes their time to clean the bodies and get them prepped for burial. But when she made the complain about not finding her son’s corpse the lady told her that it was probably being cleaned in the other room when she got in. Knowing fully well that something wasn’t right about their story she had no choice but to wait for the end of today’s shift to be allowed to see her son’s body like she was told.

Seth was restless all through their class period. If he wasn’t looking at the note he got he was thinking about what Sonia said. He wanted breaktime to come fast and as soon as it did he went to the field to meet with Sonia. Sitting close to the school fence he asked her what’s going on. Sonia knowing he needed an explanation told him right away that his brother’s death was not ordinary. “How do you mean” He asked.

She told him there’s something wrong with this town and that she’s sure he has noticed it by now. But that what he’s just only noticing now is something that has been happening a very long time ago and it’s all because the town is under a curse, that everything he think is happening will get worst, and the only way to save himself and his family is to find the preacher’s secret and say the words that will break the curse.

“The preacher’s secret” Seth asked expecting more explanation. Sonia told him yes, but that before she tells him about that let her tell him what brought about the curse. She said she was reading a book she found some time ago by an old lady in this town and in it she discovered that a long time ago there was a lady called Sanya who was burnt alive as a punishment for disobeying the rules of the land, and ever since then her spirit has been tormenting the people in this town.

She said a long time ago cats were worshipped as Gods in this town, and it was forbidden for anyone to take any of them inside your home. Then one day lady Sanya who was the town’s priestess at the time took pity and liking towards a sick cat and secretly took her in as her pet. When she was discovered she was burnt alive together with the cat as a sacrifice to what they call the spirit cat.

But unknown to them, lady Sanya has been practicing some ancient rituals to the spirit cat and after she was killed, she was reincarnated back to life as a cat and that was when everything went south in this town. Now having both the power from being the priestess and from the spirit cat she went on a revenge spree and murdered everyone who contributed to her execution. But that wasn’t enough so she took out the bloodlines of all the elders that were involved in her death. When that wasn’t enough for her she lost control and cursed the whole town so that everyone would feel the pain she felt.

After feeling like tormenting the whole town wasn’t enough she started targeting people from around the country to feed on their souls as well. Within then till now she’s possessed and trapped thousands of random people in this town. No one knows how she picks her victims but once she’s able to bring you here you’re gone. It’s said that the only person that has come close to breaking her curse and defeating her was the preacher, who confronted her but tragically lost. The story is that by the time the preacher discovered the words that could free him he was killed before he could use it. Now his spirit is trapped here with us and since then he’s been trying to use the people who are her victim to break the curse. The book mentioned that if they can find what the preacher’s secret is and say the words that will break the curse, they’ll all be free.

Seth was skeptical about what she was saying at first but after Sonia made him understand the severity of this and how real he need to take it if he doesn’t want to loose the rest of his family, he asked if the book mentioned what the words are and she said no, that the book only mentioned that “she,” the author of the book, worked alongside the preacher when he was trying to break the curse before he was defeated.
