CHAPTER 2: The First Alliance

The door slowly opened, and I froze in place. Kate stood in front of me. Her eyes were swollen and red from crying, and her face looked pale from exhaustion. Her hand was gently resting on her stomach, as if protecting the life growing inside her. For a moment, we simply stared at each other, neither of us knowing what to say. “Luna…” she said softly. Her voice sounded weak, but there was something else in it—hope. “I’m sorry,” I finally said, lowering my gaze. “About earlier… I didn’t know what to say.” Kate shook her head slowly. “You don’t need to apologize,” she replied. “Everyone here is scared.” Scared. The word echoed in my mind. But what I felt was far beyond simple fear. It was a mixture of confusion, anger, and helplessness. Just a few hours ago, I was living a normal life on Earth. Now I was trapped on another planet, forced to fight for my life in a cruel game created by aliens. And somehow, I was also expected to help someone else survive. “Come in,” Kate said quietly, stepping aside. I hesitated for a moment before walking into her room. The chamber looked similar to mine, though slightly smaller. Just like my room, it had a bed, supplies, and a wall filled with weapons. But the atmosphere felt different—more silent, more fragile. Kate closed the door behind me. “I’ve been thinking,” she said. “About what?” I asked. “About surviving.” I crossed my arms and leaned against the wall. “Only one person can go home,” I reminded her. “That’s what that alien said.” “I know,” she replied to me Her voice didn’t shake this time. “But that doesn’t mean we have to face everything alone.” I stared at her for a moment. “Are you suggesting an alliance?” I asked. Kate nodded slowly. “Yes.” I walked closer to the weapons mounted on the wall. My fingers brushed lightly against a spear, feeling the cold metal of its blade. “What happens when the time comes?” I asked coldly. “When only one person can survive?” Kate didn’t answer immediately. She slowly walked toward the bed and sat down, her hands resting on her stomach. “I don’t know,” she admitted. Silence filled the room. “But if we give up now,” she continued quietly, “then we’re already dead.” Her words made me pause. I turned to face her. “You’re risking your life for someone you just met,” I said. Kate looked down at her stomach again. “I’m risking my life for my child.” The room fell silent once more. For the first time since arriving on this planet, I realized something important. This woman wasn’t just fighting for herself. She was fighting for two lives. I sighed and rubbed my temples. “You’re crazy,” I muttered. Kate blinked in surprise. “But…” I added. “I’m even crazier.” Her eyes widened. “You mean—” “I’ll help you,” I said while facing to her Kate covered her mouth as tears began to form in her eyes again. “Thank you… Luna.” “Don’t thank me yet,” I replied seriously. “Helping you won’t be easy.” “I know,” she said softly. “If we’re going to survive this,” I continued, “we need a plan.” Kate nodded immediately. I walked back toward the wall of weapons and pointed at them. “First, we train.” “Okay.” Kate Replied “Second, we observe the other players. We need to know who’s dangerous and who isn’t.” “That makes sense,” she said. “And third…” I paused. Kate looked at me curiously. “We need to understand the aliens.” Her eyebrows furrowed. “You think we can fight them?” I shrugged. “If they can threaten to destroy Earth, then they’re not invincible.” Kate looked thoughtful. “But they look powerful.” “Maybe,” I said. “But even powerful enemies have weaknesses.” Before Kate could respond, a loud mechanical sound echoed throughout the building. The lights flickered. A deep vibration shook the walls. “What was that?” Kate whispered nervously. I walked toward the door and opened it. Outside, people were already stepping out of their rooms, looking confused and frightened. Then a familiar voice filled the entire facility. “Earthlings.” Everyone froze, It was him. Lord Zorvath Krael. Kate and I quickly walked into the hallway with the others. In the center of the large open area, a giant holographic screen suddenly appeared in the air. The alien king appeared on the screen, sitting on a massive throne. His four glowing eyes stared down at us as if we were nothing more than insects. “Your preparation period has officially begun,” he announced. No one dared to interrupt him this time. “During this month,” he continued, “you may train, form alliances, and prepare yourselves for the challenges ahead.” His tentacles moved slowly as he spoke. “But remember… only one of you will return to Earth.” Whispers spread among the crowd. Some people looked angry. Others looked terrified. I glanced at Kate. She looked like she was about to faint. Then the alien king raised one of his tentacles. “To make things more interesting…” The screen suddenly changed. Several different landscapes appeared. A dense jungle filled with towering trees. A burning desert with endless sand dunes. A frozen wasteland covered in snow and ice. A ruined city filled with broken buildings. “These,” the alien said, “will be the arenas of your future battles.” Gasps echoed across the crowd. “Each environment will test your abilities, your intelligence, and your will to survive.” He paused. “But before the real games begin…” His glowing eyes brightened. “You will face your first test in three days.” Panic erupted immediately. “What kind of test?!” someone shouted. “We deserve to know!” another person yelled. ‘’WHAHAAHAHA’’ The alien laughed. The sound was cruel and mocking. “Your first test will be simple,” he said. “Survival.” The screen suddenly disappeared. The lights returned to normal. But no one moved. The silence felt heavier than before. I turned to Kate. “Three days,” I said quietly. Kate nodded nervously. “That’s not much time.” “No,” I replied. “But it’s enough to start.” Around us, people began forming small groups. Some were already arguing. Others were crying. A few stood alone, staring at the floor as if they had already accepted their fate. “Do you think they’re telling the truth?” Kate asked. “About what?” “That only one of us can return to Earth.” I didn’t answer immediately. Instead, I watched the other participants carefully. Different nationalities. Different languages. Different backgrounds. But all of us shared the same fear. “I don’t know,” I finally said. “But even if it’s true…” Kate looked at me. “We’re not dying easily.” She took a deep breath. “You’re right.” I turned and started walking back toward the rooms. “Where are you going?” Kate asked. “To train,” I said. “If we only have three days, we can’t waste time.” Kate followed behind me. When we reached my room, I walked straight to the weapons wall. I grabbed the arnis sticks first. “These are Filipino weapons,” I said. Kate tilted her head. “You know how to use them?” “Not professionally,” I admitted. “But I’ve practiced before.” I tossed one stick to her and Kate barely caught it. “You want me to fight with this?” she asked nervously. “It’s better than fighting with nothing.” She looked at the stick uncertainly. “I’m pregnant…” “I know,” I said. “That’s why you won’t fight on the front lines.” Kate looked confused. “Then what will I do?” “You’ll learn how to defend yourself,” I said. “And how to run.” She stared at me. “Running is also survival.” Kate slowly nodded. We spent the next several hours practicing basic movements. Blocking. Dodging. Keeping distance. Kate struggled at first, but she was determined. Even though she was tired, she refused to give up. “You’re stubborn,” I said. Kate smiled faintly. “I’m a mother.” Suddenly, we heard shouting from the hallway. Curious, I walked to the door and opened it. Several people were arguing loudly. Two men were fighting over a weapon. “Let go of it!” one of them shouted. “No! I found it first!” Others tried to break them apart. But the tension was already growing. Kate stood beside me. “They’re already fighting,” she whispered. I sighed. “That’s exactly what the aliens want.” Conflicts, Fear, Desperation. If we started killing each other early, their games would become even easier. Kate looked worried. “What if someone attacks us?” I looked back at the weapons on the wall. “Then we defend ourselves.” She swallowed nervously. “You sound so calm.” “I’m not calm,” I admitted. “I’m just trying not to panic.” Then I grabbed my necklace and talk to my mind God Jesus please guide us in this battle Kate smiled weakly. “I’m glad you came to my room earlier.” “Why?” “Because now I know I’m not alone.” For the first time since arriving on this planet, I felt something strange. Fear, Anger, Confusion. But now I’m not alone anymore I have Kate by my side I wasn’t just fighting for myself anymore. I was fighting for someone else too. And maybe…Just maybe… That was enough reason to survive. Outside the room, the voices of the other Earthlings echoed through the halls. Some were preparing, some were breaking down, some were already planning how to win. But in three days… Everything would change and the first test was coming. And none of us knew what kind of nightmare awaited us.
