I never knew what true pain felt like until today.
“No!!!” I screamed, my voice raw and hoarse, but I couldn't stop the noises that left my lips. Hot tears streamed painfully from my cheeks. My throat hurt and my legs and feet stung from the burns and bruises, bit nothing could compare to the burning agony in my chest.
The bodies were to heavy to carry, leaving my no choice to drape myself over them. The smell of smoke filled my nose but along with it was the familiar scent of my family followed with a strong metallic scent.
The scent of blood.
I didn't want to look at them but I felt it stain my clothes and even my face. It became too overwhelming forcing me to look up and experience the agony again.
“Mommy…dad…” I whimpered, looking at the two limp bodies filled with blood. Their throat were slashed. And smoke filled their bodies.
My parents were dead, along with the rest if the pack and I would have been among them.
Only hours earlier in the afternoon we were fighting. I could barely remember what for except remembering may father and mother screaming about ‘safety’ and another pack. I ran off in anger, entering into the forest to stew off before falling asleep.
When I woke up it was night time and a strange feeling struck me. I'd run back to the pack, feeling more uneasy at the growing smell of smoke only to meet this sight. All the houses were burned down and my pack member's bodies lay strewn in thefloor. I could hardly believe my eyes but this…this was heartbreaking.
I reached out to my mother's swollen belly. My baby brother, after years of trying was in there and now he is gone to.
Who has done this?
That snapping of a twig alerted me, forcing me to rise from my grief. I felt it was too late.
I screamed as pain sprouted from my hair as a man dragged it behind me.
“Who is this? I thought there were no survivors.” The man chuckled.
“We should deal with her then and complete it. Maybe I'll have some fun.” The other man leered. I struggled. No. I wasn't going to go like this.
“Enough. We'll send her to the prisons. The Alphas will know what to do with her.”
I was rldragged away. Locked in a cage before I felt something hit the back of my neck. The last thing I saw was the distance framed or my parents.
I woke up to cold against my skin.. looking around I adjusted to the darkness and could see the faint walls and the bars of my cell. I was in a cage. A prison.
Laughter echoes through the walls. I tensed at hearing voices but they were coming from afar.
“So she's the last of them.”
“Goddess knows how we missed her. Not to mention she's the Alpha's daughter. We found her crying over their bodies. It was so pathetic.”
“They thought that they could go against them. All they needed to do was go along with our Alpha's demands. They got what they deserved.”
Andover brewed in me. I wanted to scream.
“The great Aloha Brothers, Derek and Mason Kirrigan. Who could go against them?”
“That's what they get for messing with the Sunreign Pack.”
My breath hitched. Sunreign pack.
I remembered that name. It was the name I'd overheard my parents whispering when they thought I couldn't hear. It was the name I overheard in rumors about trouble in our pack. The reason why they wanted to send me away.
And they had attacked.
Derek and Mason Kirrigan. I marked their names in my mind.
They had ruined my life, destroyed my pack and killed my parents.
Tears streamed from my eyes. I shut them tightly crying until I passed out.
…
When I woke up, there were loud noises. I squinted to find a group of men dressed as guards staring up at me.
“Get up. It's time for your judgment.” He said
Weakness permeated my bones as they dragged me up. I listlessly followed, ignoring the pains and aches.
“Do you know where you're going little lady?” A hand nudged me. I clenched my jaw to keep from reaching.
“You're going to be Judged by the Alphas. Who knows what they'll do with you?” I cringed as his finger traced against my cheek.
“You could be executed, or maybe he'll let us do what we like with you! You'd enjoy that wouldn't you?” He snickered.
His innuendos were clear.
I was pushed forward into a large hall where two men sat, the crowd of pack members around them.
“Alpha Derek, Alpha Mason, I present to you, the Living daughter and survivor of the Meadow Pack!” he announced.
Against the loud jeers and insults I lifted my head up to meet their gazes.
The first thing I noticed was the dressing. They looked like polar opposites, One of them, a brunette wearing a white shirt and jeans and the other with long black hair wore a black shirt, revealing his chest.
Then I saw their faces and my heart stopped.
The first pair of silvery gray eyes sent a bolt through my chest. It was a sensation I never felt before then my wolf whispered.
‘Mate.’
My heart fell. This couldn't be happening.
When I looked into the brunette's eyes I knew that things could get worse as the sensation doubled in my belly, the whisper echoing again.
‘Mate.’
