15 My focus settled on Caleb. He was dirty and bruised. Dried blood was caked on his face, neck, and clothes. His glazed eyes stared back at me. I read so much in them that I had to look away before I cried. I caught the same expression on everyone except David, Remy, and Ava. I could only imagine that they had been through worse in their military careers. Perhaps this was just another day for them. But everyone else was a hair away from complete breakdown.
