Warren's Pov

She is still not moving from the couch and not looking at me, I wanted to hug her as soon as I saw her but I also wanted to send Max away first " Maui please I just wanted to send Max away then I was going to talk to you" she smiles a little and I started to walk to her and bent down in front of her " I'm sorry it wasn't my intention to upset you. " she shakes her head " No I was just being sensitive and I was so happy to see you safely back but it didn't seem like you were happy to see me." I sighed " You don't even know how happy I was to see you just being gone for almost 2 full days was hard I know we just met but I have a connection with you and now I know why. " She looks at me like she agrees but is confused. " You know I'm a wolf right? " she nods " So my wolf hasn't talked to me in years and while I was away he popped up in my head out of no where and told me that you were my mate. " She smiles " So that's why I feel this way with you it's some kind of mate bond, but I thought only wolves mated with other wolves? " I laugh " Yeah so did I but Hex said it's rare but it does happen with other species. " "OH is Hex the name of your wolf ?" I nodded and hugged her again.

Maui's Pov

I don't know what to think about this mate business I was sure I would never again care about anyone again but I do care about him and I can't deny this no matter how I try which is weird to me. He smelled my hair as he hugged me and I didn't want him to let me go but he did and he had a look on his face that told me he was sad about something was he sad we were mates? " Whats wrong? " he sighed again " Well I don't really know how to say this but when I got to your house there were things that I saw that were.... " he turned to look at the floor. " Warren it's okay just tell me." I gripped the edge of the couch waiting for him to continue knowing it wasn't good. " They are both dead. " I nod knowing that had to be what he was going to say, but I couldn't believe it how did they not get away they were so good at going invisible and getting away. One time they came across wolves while they walked in the forest to collect berries, I wasn't with them but they told me that there was a pack and that they were also able to hide their scent while they were invisible so the wolves never even knew they were there. Now that I think about that It was probably Warren and his pack they came across that day. " How did they die?" He looks to the floor again " It looks as though they were torn apart and had scratches all over their bodies. And the woman was naked so she could of well,,, most likely was violated. " I cried a little, I did hate them but I never would wanted them to die, especially not in such a horrible way. Warren was hugging me as I sat there in shock, not knowing what to say or do...
