Kael’s POV
“Gracie…”
Her name slipped from my lips before I could stop it. It came out in a whisper, but it cut through the silence like thunder.
“Gracie…”
I blinked, turning my head slowly. My heart pounded hard in my chest. My mind felt like it was spinning, racing through fragments of memories that didn’t quite fit together. Faces. Voices. Emotions. They all swirled in my head like smoke.
Then, one thought burned through the fog like fire.
The letter.
I remembered now. Gracie had sent someone, a rogue, maybe? to bring a letter to me. I’d read it once. I hadn’t known what to make of it at the time, but now I couldn’t ignore it any longer.
She said she was pregnant.
Pregnant… with my child.
