Chapter 11 Jake thought he could talk to Chris all night. Uncomfortable silence didn’t exist with her. He leaned on the table after the waiter cleared their plates and they finished their wine. “You sure you don’t want dessert?” he said as he signed the bill to his room, knowing it would be charged to his credit card. “Not a chance. I’m stuffed. This was really nice, Jake. I enjoyed dinner.” She was reaching for her purse, but he didn’t want this night to end. “You feel like going for a walk?” he said. She lifted her brows, and he wasn’t sure what she was going to say, so he continued: “Kind of not looking forward to going back to an empty hotel room with just me and four walls.” There was the hint of something, amusement, maybe, as she slid back her chair and stood up. “Sure, why not
